Are hand loaded bullets worth it? To save room I use only 1 caliber of bullet, and take apart every other kind of bullet for its primer/gunpowder/lead. Usually I just make a bunch of hand loaded ones to compensate for their lower stats.
Handloaded bullets are for when you’re out of bullets and need more.
i got a message “your muscles feel like they are knotted and tired” - is that vitamin deficiency, parasites or worse?

dont be afraid to pop an antiparasite to be sure
Questions about game versions. I probably started a month ago and have been using the stable version exclusively. I attempted to start a game with one of the experimental builds but it crashed (Im guessing it was the simplified nutrition mod). Is it worth it to continuously update with the experimental builds? It seems theres a new build every other hour and that just seems really time consuming to update so often. Also if I do go with the experimental how do I change over my savelog?
Most experimentals are stable. Currently we have a streak of bad luck, though. There are known problems with grenades, turrets, simplified nutrition and water crafting. They’re all identified and so are likely to be fixed soon, but they exist at the moment.

Although the Devs state otherwise, sometimes experimental versions are even more stable than Stable build. Basically you just have to pick blindly your version of choice, but I wouldn’t recommend staying on Stable build as you miss out a lot of fun.
Don’t update too much, there is completely no reason to. Usually it goes as follows: somebody adds a new feature, then people report a lot of bugs on it, the feature gets fixed and so on. Of course it’s all far more complex than that since a lot of people are doing a lot of things at one time but still, just don’t download any versions with freshly added major features, only rely on versions that are the result of a lot of bugfixing.
Where can I find the patch reports before downloading the newest experimental? Just so I know if its new features or bugfixes etc.

How do you install a mod in world that is already in progress? I seem to have done it before, but I can’t remember how. I was able to get the Cataclysm ++ (the one I’m using) mod into the game for use in world gen, but not in my actual world.
what i am about to suggest i have tried it once, with success - but as it has been a while, i could have forgotten something or something could have changed until now. Anyway:
savegame folder → mods.json
open with text editor.
add/remove the mods you want within that file
It could create problems with objects/monsters/locations depending on the mod. It may also work fine.
PS. that’s for the ‘official’ mods. for the unofficial ones (those that require using external data besides the main catadda files), you should go ask in the mod’s thread.
So I went into my world’s save folder, found the notepad called mods with my list of current mods on it, and did that. I already tried this before, and it did not work. I typed it in exactly as it said, and have already implemented the mod I want into the game, but not my world. Official mods don’t work either, if by “official” you mean ones that come pre installed. I attempted adding the more locations mod, but that didn’t work either.
I changed the mod to have lower case letters instead of uppercase, so now it says “more_locations.” I did not add a comma. And hooray, now it works. Just one question, what is “ident?” Is it short for identity?
You know what doesn’t make sense?
Putting in [spoiler] tags.
you mean how the forum shrinks code boxes and big rectanglar images?
For certain people sticking a code tag inside of a spoiler always shortens the code box down to a single line (which makes it completely unreadable). That said since the code boxes themselves already scroll when they get too long, there’s no real point in spoilering code boxes anyways.
Is there a good way to get rebar? or am i stuck finding 1 or 2 in stores and having to make the rest?
smash concrete walls.
Destroying road will give a LOT, but that’s pretty hard to do (flaming eyes used to be great for that, actually - don’t think they do it anymore, though).
Edit: Home improvement stores (and super stores) have some sometimes - I got a good bit from the seeds section after the zombies had beaten everything down, but the walls were still up, so I’m not sure exactly which things gave it, but it might be more easily smashable than concrete walls.
Maybe jackhmmers should destroy roads?
My own Question:
Item Lists, how does the game determine what is pulled (and how much)?
In some cases, it appears to use the attatched numbers as weights, but in others it appears to use them as frequencies, instead pulling one of each item if it passes an RNG check?
