Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!
i mostly don’t use shotguns, since i waste all their ammo on crafting high explosives.
but when i do use them - they are anti-jabberwock weapons.
Always makes me sad to hear about the killing of jabberwocks with non-diamond-melee weapons - such a missed opportunity!

Dont tell anyone, but a bush, a fire, a decent melee weapon, and some good armor or dodge and jabberwocks are jokes.

Overratted critters. Really

If I recall, making them step on a landmine can seriously screw up Jabberwocks, or anything else for that matter. Having a landmine on hand, or luring one to a minefield is a different thing entirely.

Anybody know if it’s a bug or intentional that we can no longer (in experimental for several builds now) see wheel size when “viewing” with “x” OR when examining a vehicle? Seems like at the very least you should be able to determine a wheel’s size when examining a vehicle.

I’ve tried with and without the vehicle additions mod that I normally use. The only way I ever see wheel size that I can find is to remove wheels, which with the mangling of jacks and addition of lifting equipment is just a wee bit inconvenient of a way to check out tires. Maybe I’m missing something.

Also dunno if it’s the vehicle mod or vanilla but I’m noticing even wilder variance in wheel sizes on any given vehicle. Before I’d often get different sizes in pairs, like a 4 wheel car would have 20" up front on both tires and something else on the back pair. Now I’m seeing completely random tire sizes on all tires, like an APC with 8 different wheels on it. Seems a bit goofy to me. It’s not like scavengers would go around and randomly change tires on derelict vehicles for kicks and you’d think most vehicles would have someone organized sets of tires on them to begin with.

bug.

Whats the deal with the NPC continuing to complain about radiation sickness almost a day after the looting of the sarchopoghi?

He is losing radiation, yes? were the mechanics changed?

Yes
Yes

It will take him a while without prussian blue

When I examine some items it looks like I can scroll down the item description. How can I do that?

With “M”.

holy crap you sneaky bastards. i just killed my first named zombie.
well, besides petee, scrambles, and jacko

How does one kill small, but quick enemies, such as dogs, cats and their undead variants?

try ranged weapons (or melee with reach attack like spear), fighting with them requires some skills and low encumbrance and dogs are probaly one of easiest fast enemies

Spears as a whole are an insanely effective weapon in any case, since you can perform really accurate ranged attacks (F) over multiple tiles. Combined with kiting and obstacles you can completely mess up brutes without them ever having a chance to launch you away.

spears do lackluster damage overall. the big powerful, like the awl pike, are huge, weighty things that tire you out.

they work, yes, but they arent katanas or fire axes. they dont dish out quite the same raw damage.

that said their reach attacks make them very useful against slow monsters like Zeds

I lure them to a bush, light it on fire, stand next to it.

After some reading and experimenting, I realized that welding rigs can assist in vehicle construction, not just soldering (ik that was an old post). I feel like an idiot, but not without a little reason. Originally, I tried to use the welding rig for vehicle construction, but for some reason I couldn’t (older version).

Why do tazers seem so underwhelming for their cost?

Tazer is a last resort weapon to me. Great against robots (skitters) though, possibly moose too early on. Bad against zombies. Try putting an extra battery mod to a tazer. Note that tazers are rechargeable by default. Do you mean their high crafting cost? I’ve never crafted one. Always salvaged mine from skitters, quickly ending up with more than I need.

If you’re feeling suicidal, you could try taking down a lab turret with a tazer… Or try sneaking up on a tankbot… EMP damage sometimes shuts down robots without triggering the self-destruct explosion. I wonder if electrical damage has the chance to do the dame. I don’t know if they’re the same or two different damage types in the game.

tazers used to be op, they are nerfed now?
