Also, I dont think Ive ever seen a ‘basic chem set’.

Disassemble ‘chemistry set’ and you will get ‘basic chemistry set’, like a ‘salvaged power armour’ from ‘power armour’.
Question. How can I change the name of the character?
UPD.
Question 2. Is there are some way to see whole protection for the body part, including points gained from mutations/bionics?
Anyone know whats up with the winch doors at firestations? I recently started playing again, and all the doors to the fire station will not open when you trying turning the winch
.
That is apparently a fairly recent bug in the experimental version. Obvious bugs like that are usually fixed pretty quickly.

So is this a really bug or did something change? For a few days now with latest when you try to use a winch at a fire station you get a “nothing happens” message. Tried boosting mechanics a bit to see if it required skill now but same deal.
Obviously there are other ways to get in but if you want to leave those doors in tact you’re kinda boned right now.
edit, nm, found the solution.
Bumping on the archery question:

Also, did archery get a major nerf or am I not using the aiming system properly? Can some explain what all the options do/mean? Right now I rarely hit my target, and when I do its either a grazing hit or piddling damage. (Using longbow with wooden arrows at 4 archery)

There are a lot more factors affecting your success in archery than just archery skill. To narrow down whether your difficulties are due to a nerf or something to do with your character, you should also post your character’s STR, DEX, Marksmanship skill and most importantly your eye and arm encumbrance.
Many players don’t realize how great an effect eye and arm encumbrance have on ranged combat, so these would be my first guess at where to look.
Interesting, here’s the breakdown:
STR: 10
DEX: 9
Marksmanship: 3
Archery: 4
Encumbrance: 69+2 (Torso- Pink), 45+0 (Arms - Pink)
I’m guessing its the arm encumbrance?

Unless something has changed, you don’t have to actually have charges in the chem set if you have some other source of heat/cooking nearby (nearby fire, for instance), so the kitchen unit would provide the hotplate charges from the vehicle’s electrical system.
And yes, a “basic chemistry set” is a fairly recent addition in experimental - it’s just a chem set minus the hotplate.
Yet another question: Barbed Wire Bat/Baseball bats in general or Quarterstaff?
The first has higher damage but the second has rapid strike, which is really powerful
Whats the to-hit and attack cost?
Accuracy is more important at low skill levels, rapid strike more useful at slightly higher ones. Also note how much volume they take up. Id likely go with a quarterstaff because it can be upgraded, but Id keep them both if possible until I found my endgame weapons. Both are useful.
Do note that barbed wire bats use cutting as a minor.

Pretty sure torso enc does not factor into ranged attacks, only melee. What is you 45 is pretty high for your arms though for sure. If you can, cut the sleeves of your jacket or possibly remove whatever arm armor you’re wearing. Should help a lot.
Also you didn’t post your Eye Enc, which also can have an effect. Keep it low.
How do I get sounds working? So far I’ve dropped the Chesthole soundpack into data/sounds, right next to Basic, but there are clearly some steps I’m missing.
I know there is supposed to be an option to choose which soundpack to use in Options under General, but I do not have that option. I’m on Ubuntu and I just installed the latest Exp.
I need to build a UPS, but it requires a “small” storage battery. I have medium and regular storage batteries in my craft menu, but not the small variant.
Figured it out: batteries can no longer be “made.” You must recover a storage battery from wreckage (like a damaged electric car with solar panels, they tend to have them) and dismantle them to get smaller cells.
Can an electric (UPS) jackhammer destroy any obstacle, like reinforced glass and allow me to get into a military bunker without a card key?
You CAN get into a military bunker without an ID card but you will run into trouble. I’m not sure if the jackhammers break reinforced glass. They break concrete. Against metal doors they’re definitely useless. It doesn’t matter anyway since not all of the bunker underground walls are made of glass, so you can circumvent them, even dig into the rooms from above or below (needs Construction skill and materials for the stairs/ladders). Also, try jackhammering the card reader.
Been away a while, what important features have you added during 2016 in experimentals?
Magazines in guns, new merged mods, new skill point system.
Don’t know much beyond that
in military bunker i used pickaxe to break walls (better take a shovel too!)
for destroying metal doors at surface i use designated 4 tile long ram with military composite ram, thats why i allways have 4 light frames and once plating in my trunk
Yes - jackhammer work on log walls, concrete walls, stone walls, and metal walls (I haven’t tried on normal walls). There are multiple military-grade turrets inside, though.
How can I use the charcoal forge? The recipes I’ve seen all mention the electric forge, not the charcoal one…
