Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Isn’t there a problem with brute shocker electricity? I’m wearing a light power armor thar prevents me from taking electric damage but they still recked my armored by 3 damage state in one arc.
That seems really brutal.

Are you using the latest experimental? Coolthulhu made some changes to armor damage that should prevent electricity shredding your clothes, within the last couple of days.

I’m updating right now, thank you Malkeus.

No problem. Have you tried the launcher/updater? (2nd link in POPULAR list)

Yup, I just forgot to update ^^

Am I correct in my assumption that, like mods like ‘Dinomod’ Any mod data that shares the same monster ID, spawn group ID, or regional ID will overwrite the vanilla files for as long as that mod is loaded?

Does this mean that a mod that only replaces content or ‘messes with stats’ can be used to create a world and then ‘forgotten’ and the game will run it fine? I know some other ASCII games had hissy fits about that sometimes.

Does damaged ammo pose any issues when used? Like will it jam or misfire or blow the gun up in my hands?

Not that I know.

If you load it into a gun and then unload it you get mint condition rounds. If for some reason the condition of them mattered.

It matters for stacking in inventory…

Oh, nifty trick. thanks.

In experimental I notice that wooden arrows have much more damage-dealing potential than metal ones. That seems wrong. Has anyone looked at this or done any !science! on the subject?

I’ve also noticed that my character has had a cold for more than two weeks. Cough medicine and codeine don’t seem to help. He’s eating a balanced diet (meat and wild vegetables). Is it basically permanent until I find some royal jelly?

Yeah colds are a bitch in CDDA just like they can be IRL.

I found a flu shot once used it and went all year with out a cold wicked things them

It’s not permanent, but it last a damn good while. Seems to vary, not sure of he maximum time possible. Cough medicine will suppress the symptoms but not cure it. Royal jelly will cure it as you said, and in more recent experimental builds the Arcana mod’s red potion has been changed to cure that. X3

For preventing one, as mentioned there’s the flu shot. Whereas gamma globulin shot seems to just boost your healthiness a lot, flu shot outright prevents a cold or flu for about a year. Getting your healthiness up (vitamin everyday is best) and having the Disease Resistant traits help, but sheer math means you’ll still catch it eventually. Wearing a gas mask 24/7 outright eliminates any chance of catching it.

I was equiping a new npc i picked up with some gear, and to make it simpler i used the debug menu since doing it via the npc menu results in utter frustration as they put random clothes on. My problem is that i accidentally made him equip two filter masks and i don’t see a way to remove it via the debug menu or the npc menu. The only thing i see that would work is the delete items option but that would delete all of the items. Its also weird that having them equip items from you inventory doesnt remove the item from your inventory.

So how do i get the extra filter mask off of the npc?

Write down what they do have and remove everything, then replace the other items.

Otherwise, possibly edit the savefile? Possibly?

Yea i figured i could do that, but i was hoping for a less convoluted way.

Can you make a macro?

I can’t recall whether NPCs are affected by stamina though.

Make them wear something encumbering on mouth.
They will most likely drop everything currently on the mouth to put the new item on.

hey, what strength/skill makes a sledge hammer ‘worth it’?
