Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Really now… wtf is wrong with dogs, when i had one it would constantly attack me and do no damage, now that ive saved my shelter mates dog all it does is attack it for no damage and spam messages. How do i get it to stop attacking with out killing it, I cant interact with it since its not my dog. Would any one like to shed some light on the dogs please!?

I had that same issue, I just debugged a pet carrier and stuffed it in there. :V

Ha! Thats pretty funny, but I dont wanna use a console command… and i dont wanna kill my new friends dog. Ugh frustrting, maybe ill try to do some reading on how to mod the dogs to be… better… Any helpful links for some one with no coding knowledge that wants to try to mod?

Folder data, then json. Find monster.json, look for the entry for dog. I’m assuming toning down aggression is the good part. o3o

Thats a start. Thanks Mr. Dragon.

Did you actually tame the dog? Or is it just some random dog that has been following you attacking you but never actually hurting you? Because I’m totally getting this image of a guy totally encased in armor with a snarling angry dog constantly gnawing at his leg going “Oh you’re just a friendly little guy aren’t you? Yes you are! Yes you are!”. :stuck_out_tongue:

The first time it was a tamed dog and it was gnawing on me… It mysteriously vanished after i tied it up and shoved it onto my deathmobile… I think it phased through the vehicle and i ran it over. The current dog is the basic evac quest to find your shelter mate’s dog. It constantly gnaws on him and gnawed on me the whole way back to the shelter when i found it. But I like that imagery.

You mean you can tame the dogs? What about the cats? I always just shoot them with crossbow and eat them.

What’s the most protection you can get, full body wise with the least amount of encumbrance?

Before I used to do a boiled leather armor, survivor duster and a long sleeve shirt with survivor cargo pants, boots, and gloves. It gave me a ton of protection with about 30+ encumbrance.

I recently switched to light survivor gear, basically encased in light survivor suit, boots, gloves, and mask with a tactical helmet and survivor duster. Plenty of storage, good protection and only 19 torso encumbrance.

My legs and arms are a bit varied as I have sheathes a holster and a small waterskin that boggles me down a bit. Also if it’s too cold I put on light gloves/glove liners, a union suit and extra socks. If I really need some warmth a wool cloak (also have one lined with fur) for a huge increase in warmth at the cost of a bit of encumbrance.

Character’s all about speed and power, with traits, mutations and bionics to increase speed and movement without sacrificing anything drastic like having hollow bones.

Yea just activate their respective foods(cat food/dog food) while next to them. Makes them friendly and follow you around gnawing on your ankles until you eat them.

I think activated combat armor has zero enumbrance and protection in the range of heavy survivor suit. Can be found in lab finales and banks.

It does need plutonium batteries and it’s pretty encumbering while not powered, even powered it just has 10 more cut protection than heavy survivor armor and 20 less bash protection.

That’s a vague question, actually. But, I feel I have a fairly light but protective outfit. Screenshot behind the spoiler.

Pants are the trickiest. I’m not sure if there are any light and durable pants. Turnout trousers are bit bulky and leather pants are bit flimsy. Would love to know if there’s a compromise between the two. Go for kevlar or empty MBR vest on torso. I do get shredded if a lab turret catches me off-guard but I’ve survived so far. Arms and torso are at risk then. Generally that getup is quite safe though. Almost immune against most zombie bites/kicks/flails. Note: that’s my summer gear. 170 carry volume (have Packmule).

Im kind of a fan of the leather pants and leather jacket for winter gear.
Leather armor is also not the worst. Theyre easy to get and when refit do good.

Is it just me or are the bone armor boots weak compared to the leather armor boots but the bone armor gauntlets are a lot stronger than the leather armor gauntlets?

Edit- In fact the bone armor boots should be better, as they state they are just the leather armor boots reinforced with bone…

Theyre strong in different ways, no?

My consistency senses are tingling.

Sorta, the bone boots actually lose 3 points in bash protection, which is kinda odd when you are adding a hard substance to something, but they do get a point or two in environmental and acid protection.

My consistency senses are tingling.

Mine too.

idk.

robuts have stronger cutting than bash protection. Makes sense to all the traditional senses. Bones having more acid prot makes some senses too.

True, but manhacks drop plutonium relatively often, and as long as you activate the armor when you need it, charges last for a very long time.
