Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Even then, I’d just have multiple identical rechargeable devices. It is kind of overpowered, but that is the way of CDDA. You do get overpoweringly powerful eventually, and in multiple ways. The root of the problem is item availability; the fact that they all rely on one setting, when it might be best to have separate settings (factors) for food/weapon/clothing/gadget drop rates. Lowering the universal item drop rate can quickly and severely limit your access to semi-rare items, I have learned… but you do still get all the food and clothing in the world. Might be a discussion for another thread.

Also, if recharge rates were toned down, we’d have a discussion whether that’d be realistic or not. A week to recharge a hotplate? 3 days? A day? 12 hours?

Edit: I might even have multiple rechargers to go with the multiple rechargeable devices.

Hum, I’ve passed the treshold but I have some problems in continuing the “research”.

[spoiler]I’ve located a fungal bloom, but i don’t see any marlos flower in it, only marloss bushes. Should i wait fror them to spawm or should they be already present?

Thanks for the insight, guys. I do think that I’ll just do a recharging station. I don’t want a big-box vehicle and having two tiles be devoted to resources like that seems like enough for me.

Edit: Another question. Has anyone ever tried installing a rechargeable battery mod onto a UPS? Because that would be a whole 'nuva level of cheese.

Uhoh. If that didn’t work out, going to complete the other piece of the trio might help…

The fungal flowers, in addition to having flowers you can pick for the marloss seed, they have marloss trees that also can yield berries.

Well i have already passed the first “normal” phase. There is always the second, random and harder solutions but I would be prefer the normal one.

I’m already a marloss carier, it’s really the flowers that I can’t see any flower in the fungal bloom, which is quite suprising :expressionless:

Ooh, that isn’t good. ;w;

If you allow the blossom monsters to keep spreading, that should eventually generate more terrain that might yield the flowers. If not, you might have to venture into the haze and see if any grew where they couldn’t be seen from outside.

I’ve seen it mentioned around here several times, so yes, though I don’t see why that’s so problematic, really.

Rechargng stations drain a lot of power from vehicle batteries, and you cant put on the extra battery mod on them if you do.

Sure. But there’s even cheatier thing to do - you put a ‘UPS conversion mod’ on a device, and then you install a CBM called Internal Unified Power System. The CBM and the mod together essentially enable you to run a device off of your bionic power. Great for mp3 players and flashlights. You could put a UPS mod on a UPS. Then you can pew away with your energy weapons off of your bionic power. Add the Metabolic Interchange CBM and food basically becomes ammo.

You know you can run those energy weapons straight off your cbm UPS without the step of having a UPS in your inventory, right? Welcome to the department of redundancy department, you are welcome here.

I did not know that nor was I aware of it. I feel I feel welcomed.

Cool! I might just do that. One time, I found an optical cloak (and was later absolutely murdered) that ran on UPS. That would be sweet. Might be easier to have rechargeable UPSs and equipment that can run on UPS. Depends on encumbrance, though.

Food is more of a hassle than just dropping an object in a box and letting it sit for awhile, though (I think anyway). I might just do that in the future, but I have never reached a point where I could install a CBM.

My goal is to have a storage battery on every tile (or just about every tile) and a bunch of solar panels as well (at least six). I don’t think that I’ve ever seen my vehicle drop below 99% when I had that running at full capacity.

Then you aren’t trying hard enough. Try running an electric vehicle with multiple laser turrets - 15 upgraded solar panels aren’t enough to stay at 99% all the time (though with enough storage batteries, that’s hardly an issue - a couple of sunny days gets you full again).

Of course, that’s killing a Thriller with literally hundreds of dancers around it and killing all the hulks that result, so that’s probably not a very common scenario… heh.

As to the UPS bionic, once you have all the standard bionic power sources, food, sunlight, booze, and anything burnable all become ammo (batteries are already ammo), just depending on what’s close at hand.

I will say that food doesn’t become ammo nearly as fast as burnable things (say, 2x4s) - still fast enough that it usually doesn’t matter, but there is the rare situation where metabolic exchange just won’t cut it. “Eating” 2x4s gives power faster than any one bionic uses it.

I just wish you could put a UPS mod on the RM13 combat armor… then life would be good.

Welp, i’ve found what i searched.

I got the mutation "marloss rejection "by eating the seed, I blacked out and received a lot of damage and a lot of pain. Should have seen that one coming :stuck_out_tongue:

Aw too bad. Guess that’s it for that line.

Kinda figured it would penalize you for trying to trick The Mycus. o3o

It’s not really a lot of power. It’s a flat 187 per turn (regardless of if its charging a load of stuff or not charging anything). That’s the same as a headlight, and offset by ~1.6 standard solar panels. Battery power is cheap anyway, alternators give a huge amount and gasoline is abundant.

If you’re powering crafting equipment with it, then extra battery mods are pretty irrelevant. Charging speed is ~1 charge every 10 turns (technically its a 1/10 chance to restore charge every turn), so its hard to use up charges faster than they’re returned.

oh. So 1870 - 1 is a good ratio. o.o

Sure, when you build a vehicle for the purpose of running everything at once it isnt a lot.

I just realized that mirrors grant the total sight radius of them when you can see them from within a vehicle; as in the cay extend your sight radius at night without light, so long as you can see them. Neat.

The implications are fun, especially for large vehicles. I wonder if cameras will utilize mirrors. How hard would it be to make a ‘mirror’ that would extend vision to all lookers? Even if it had to be a vehicle mounted thing.

I smashed up the lockers in my starting shelter and made a crowbar.
Then I smashed some other stuff and it said my crowbar was damaged.

  1. How do I tell how damaged it is? Is there somewhere I can find the condition of my various items? (How to know if it is just slightly dinged up, or about to break?)

  2. When I look around with V, there is a “+/- priority” option in the menu. When I hit it it brings up a text box to type in. What is this?

  1. In inventory (i) crowbar should have “HP bars” next to it.
  2. It pushes some items to the top or the bottom of the list. Useful if you want to search a giant pile of stuff for something specific, but don’t want to totally filter out other results
