Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Fridges. Stoves too probs. Maybe sinks?

definitely fridge units.

Washing machines, refrigerators and the like.

thx fams, I knew that laundromat was good for something.

Go somewhere else, or pack some kind of robut. The necros wil make your job hard unless you can pulp things fast. And you cant do that by hand.

Fire, acid, massive trauma or massive crowd control. Gotta get those necros, gotta probably remove the fastest zoms before you can do that. i.e. the hulk. Who theyll reanimate. >.<[/quote]

Unless it has been changed quite recently in the experimental, necroa can reanimate pulped corpses. I tested this a while back, and then, it was definitely true.

Generally, I deal with necros by pulling the other zombies away in small group, then killing them, standing on the corpses, killing the next one, using advanced inventory management move that one under me as well, etc, until that group is all dead, the butcher. If the necro follows them, all the better, as it will eventually attack, and I can get it into the pile, as well.

Obviously, this is MUCH harder with hulks, but they are fast enough that you can kite them far away from the necros before you kill them. Brutes/shocker brutes are actually the hardest, as they aren’t SO much faster than the necros.

Neat tactic Deoxy, I’m gonna steal it

Luring out the other zombies far from the necros is indeed the best thing to do. Necros usually don’t tend to rush in an attack, and will often stay around the area where they are. This can be particularly problematic on night raids, as zombies will rush you, necros stay in the dark - and you won’t know where they are and only realize that there’s one around when the ones you killed are being revived.

And necros can revive other necros. Unless you can gib them in melee, best way to deal with a group of necros close to each other is a good gun, hopefully killing the entire group of necros before one can revive another necro.

I just realized how easy it is to mass craft batteries:
Car batteries can be dismantled for 4 concentrated acid each, which is 400 charges of batteries in the end. Taking them out from cars requires only 1 mechanics, which is easy to get with soldering iron (or even lockpicks).
This can be utilized early on, as it only requires common tools like soldering iron and screwdriver and the recipe is in the common electronic books.

I believe I found a less tedious way (albeit less newb-friendly as well): vinegar. I always find at least one gallon jug full of it in liquor stores, and crafting more is fairly easy. The vinegar gallon jugs you find as loot are always filled to the brim (30 charges) and give you 3000 battery charges, apparently equal to disassembling 7+ car batteries. Need more? All you need is water and some fruit juice to spare. I had tons of canned juice lying around (which I never used because water is much more efficient) and lots of water from 7 funnels that collected it into gallon jugs way before winter arrived. Craft a fermenting vat first; it’ll take a while but will be worth it in the long run. Then craft unfermented vinegar - it requires a heat source (like a fire), 10 water and some juice. Each (b)atch will supply you with additional 14 vinegar, equal to 1400 battery charges (4+ car batteries). Dump it inside the fermenting vat and wait for the fermenting process to finish (3 in-game days).

Yeah, I prefer using vinegar too. I keep a strawberry field only for vinegar making purpose.

Does extent of damage to a rain coat (or clothes in general) affect it’s waterproof qualities? I’m wearing a rather torn raincoat and still getting wet.

You’re probably still getting wet on parts of your body the raincoat isn’t covering. Raincoats only cover your torso and arms, so you’re still getting rained on your head, legs, hands and feet.

More worth it to just get a towel and (a)ctivate it to dry yourself off once you’re indoors rather than encumbering yourself in a raincoat, if the wet penalty is hampering you that much.

Thanks both for the reply and for towel advice.

My nail gun is supposed to have a burst fire mode. But when i try to burst-fire it, it still fires only single nail. What gives?

On a more advanced note, the raincoat does have a hood, which means if no other items aren’t worn on the head, then the head too will receive the protection of the raincoat. :stuck_out_tongue:

For some reason the nail gun has been given “burst size 1”, which means it’s effectively single-fire only. No idea why it does have “burst size 1” as opposed to being tagged just semi-automatic like most pistols for example. I think the nail gun is supposed to be single-fire only. The nail rifle, on the other hand, has a proper burst-fire mode of 5 rounds IIRC.

Damage shouldn’t have an effect.

Do you get really wet or only slightly so?
Rainproofing protects all body parts, but at lower rate that waterproofing.

Waterproofing only works if the waterproof item is on the outside (ie. lowest on the list from all the items that cover given body part). But when it does work, it prevents all wetness to given body part unless you’re in deep water.

Damage shouldn’t have an effect.

My survivor duster isn’t doing it’s job well then.

Only slightly wet. Ok, i’ll make sure my raincoat is in the outermost position.

Does gender has anything to do with the gameplay? Can i wear bras and panties as a male character if they fit me without penalties?

Gender does nothing in the game other than flavour.

:frowning: the world has moved away from recognizing sexual dimorphism publically and conciously.

but this game doesnt have or need it. Its called custom character creation or randomized characters.

-4 STR was always a houserule anyway

That, and a thinly-veiled request for images of musclegirls.
