Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Odd. Tried short or long ropes? o.O

About slave zoms, pets, etc.

I know pets are hostile to most hostile critters.
Are slave zoms hostile to regular zoms? Will they soak up damage for me if say wolves or eldritch critters come knocking?

No, it told me to only use short ropes, even then it’s only for anchoring them.

Nope, regular zombies ignore the slaves. I put a wolf next to my slave and it killed him pretty quickly. Hopefully he resurrects soon.
All they need to do now is for you to be able to attach leads to drag them around, and make them equip clothing and armors so they can soak up damage from different sources. I mean, you can give them backpacks but not armor.

Why do I keep hearing “huge explosions” They happen every couple moves from the south east. Im to scared to explore for myself, any ideas?

There might be a minefield down there. Some z or wildlife having fun with buried stuff.

If it’s in a town, it could also be a zombie destroying the gasoline tank of a car.

Hmm… I dont think this is it, because I hear the explosions very frequently.

Edit: And does anyone know how to check what mutations you have? I failed installing a bionic and got two, and I forgot what they were already, And whats up with the wiki?

press @ it will be shown under traits.

edit:

per default [ should bring up your mutations.

The minimap in the latest experimental seems to have eaten almost the entire space for the scrolling text, I can only see 1 or 2 lines at a time. Any idea how to fix it?

I too find it frivilous

Happened to me too, I switched over to the latest experimental and started a new world, which said world is turning out to be the best one yet.

Disable the minimap, save game, load it again. It should be gone.

There should also be an option to adjust the maximum allowed size of the minimap, but on the default screen size there’s not really enough room for the minimap to be worth using. ._.

Odd. Never noticed that occurring. o.O

It occurs to me maybe its the dome lights, and that in dimly lit spaces they dont show up in the dark at all whereas the source of the dome light will.

I booted up the game to try to prove myself right >.<

The dome lights can be toggled on/off though. Did you check them while manning the controls? o.o

It was dome lights. The farther away you get the less of the light you can see and the fewer tiles it reveals.

Doh. o3o

So long as turning them off solved the problem, then.

Here’s a tip: don’t think too deeply about tactics. Zombies do not care if you sprint in one direction through a light source and then backtrack just outside the light range, they just run straight for you and promptly punch your limbs into pulp.

But, zombies can be outwitted if one applies themselves.

Since they go to the last known location of you before they follow other things you can attract them (Ive noticed in the expermimental this is much less sureproof, btw. They stumble around and some appear to generally ignore me until I close in) you can light a fire away from your car and keep them from wrecking your car so much.

By lighting a fire you destroy your scent in that area some, and wolves and other are afraid of it and will turn neutral/tracking again.

By dropping 1 thread, lighting it, and picking it back up you can murderize them too.

By setting off car alarms youll call more zoms into the area at night, but they will all mostly prioritize the alarm over your scent.

You can draw them with radios and yell and dodge around buildings and putting cars in between them and you always works and Theyll attack other critters if theyre closer and irecrackers are a mild-decent noise distraction. Getting a vehicle controller lets you distract them with alarms, and the noise from burning buildings collasping seems to work well and the fire from gas tanks leaking kills them.

I was just highlighting that they aren’t as clever as I sometimes think they are.

But yes good tips
