Where’s the best place to look for an atomic lamp?
Thinking of fortifying this evac shelter that’s relatively close to where I spawned, but I’m going to need a 24-hour source of light so I can read/craft/sew whenever I need to.
Labs/evac shelters/police stations/doctor offices/banks can have a computer terminal.
40 rocks or 1 metal tank and a pipe will get you a fireplace/wood stove. You’ll only use something like 12 heavy sticks/ 2x4’s a night, tossing more on as needed, and you can get something like 60 2x4’s in the 2 hours it takes to fell and process it into planks. You can nail together a 150 storage “shopping cart” out of two wood frames and using a duffel or two you can move a lot quickly even without a vehicle.
You can craft braziers from sheet metal if you decon or smash a ton of ovens/washing machines. Probably lockers too.
Once you have duct tape or a (makeshift?)welder you can plop a swappable storage battery case and battery in a 1 tile cart. Put aisle lights if they weren’t nerfed yet and controls on it to get 3x3 lighting, low draw, and you can simply swap the storage battery out as needed from your solar bank. Heck, you can put foot pedals/hand rims or an engine in it and use alternators to charge as needed too.

Evac shelters have computers in them already which give off light 24-hours, so you shouldn’t need one. However I did just find one in just a normal house, so if you still want one, I would just start raiding the neighborhoods.
The computer in the evac shelter gives off “cloudy” light, which means it takes longer to read and craft by.
Light source items tend to spawn in the subway a lot. You’ll find a zillion flashlights and gasoline lanterns before you ever find an atomic lamp, but it is possible to find them down there. Not many enemies either. Will take time and you’ll cover a lot of ground though.
I know it has been asked before but how do I turn the zombie evolution to it’s absolute lowest setting, where can I find it, and does it require a restart?
I’m hoping against hope it does not, I’m having the best first day adventure. Luck doesn’t begin to describe it.

Hit ?, hit 2, tab over to the options for ‘current world’. go down to option 7, and set it to 0.01 or 0.00.
It doesn’t say it will need a restart, while other options do say so.

I may have wasted a pump’s worth of gasoline…
Ja. Find the actual gas tanks on the vehicle screen, then hit “f” to refill. It’ll drain from any containers in your inventory until that specific tank is full. If you do that and find the vehicle isn’t at 100% AND you still have gas left in your inventory, it should mean there’s another partially-filled tank elsewhere on the vehicle.

I can’t seem to do it. The gas tank is at red, would that change it?
Unless it’s grey from being wrecked, it should be fill-able. It’ll leak like crazy if it’s yellow or worse though. ;w;
If that tank’s on one side of the vehicle, check the corresponding space on the other side. Failing that…hmm. Would depend on what sort of vehicle it is.
Ah. Hnng, thought I’d have time to test these tanks before getting dragged out of the house. >.<
At yellow it should start leaking while moving, but not when sitting still. At light red it’ll rapidly leak even sitting still, but can still be filled. Fucked up and when straight from light red to grey because I hit it to hard.
Eh, maybe I’m just bad at vehicling. I mean, my idea of a hilarious death machine is a massive plank with wheels covered in spikes driven by two mismatched engines, with which I drift everywhere.
But someone worked out that if you want to use it in crafting you can just have the minireactor on or near you and you can use the plutonium in it as usual.
