50% less energy usage. But the effect is miniscule anyway - 1 battery charge per unit.
Hmm. That sounds perfectly exploitable in the case of smaller units with less space for solar panels.
Maybe pointless on a solar deathmoile, but on something bike-sized, or even closer to a tactical shopping cart… o3o

Damnit, now i guess I’m gonna have to find a water purifier so I can build a kitchen unit. frustrated noises (Not a single electronics book in my starting city…)
Only problem is while you could build cargo, wheels, a funnel, and a faucet for a tactical water cooler, a second tank for clean water plus a purifier would need a second vehicle space. =w=
Don’t forget the cloth roof so it has a tactical turtleneck.
EDIT: For some reason I can’t see further than 1 tile in the dark. Night vision, contacts, no mask or eye encumbrance, not boomered, it’s been like this for ~maybe 1 day in game. What’s going on? (My nightlight is covered.)

Did you turn it off by accident? You can toggle night vision on and off in your mutations page now.
Failing that, damn near any source of light will foil your vision. Any items that might be giving off a glow? If not an atomic light…only permanent light source to come to mind would be the demon claw. >w>
EDIT: Here’s an oddball question or two. Does the “WHIP” ammo flag do anything if given to a weapon with a reach attack, or does it only work on pseudo-reach-weapons that use ranged functions?

The whip is special because it’s fired at close range with endless ammo, but reach attacks are special melee attacks iirc. I don’t know if it’d do or break anything but it’s not intended for it.
Hmm. It might be sane to change bullwhips to GENERIC instead of GUN as it is now, though.
Also, the item flag WRAP versus WRAP as a technique. Any difference?
Has anyone fixed the problem with the screen not following your targets when aiming weapons yet?
Is there a reason why there’s a spiral cavern under the last reachable floors of all mines, or is it just there to freak me out?

Yeah, I don’t think reach existed when whips were put in so they’re a crazy outlier–the only reason we have them is for the Indiana Jones profession. Incidentally, I’ve never used a reach weapon, how does it work? Do you have to press something like f when a short but away from your target or what?
As for wrap, I’m on mobile so I can’t be sure but it looks like the technique is a tentacly unarmed move, as opposed to flexible weapons that can wrap.
And question: will cars push each other on collision? I’m thinking about a detachable vehicle akin to the motorcycle and tumbler from the dark knight, and wondering if I could make it work with a motorcycle-shaped shock absorber patch in the larger vehicle.

Reach attack flag allows a melee weapon to attack via the “f” key, yeah. It basically allows you to do short-ranged attacks without the complications from defining a weapon as a gun (like the whole gunsmithing issue). It also allows the use of its melee stats, whereas pseudo-reach weapons rely on the arbitrary stats of its ranged function. In the case of a gun that ALSO has one of the reach_attack flags (or a bayonet gunmod that gives a reach attack), you can use “F” to switch to and from the reach function like with selective fire.
And yes, collision can nudge cars, but you can’t attach vehicles to each other. ;w;

Nope, no bracing a boar spear to foil pouncing monsters yet. o3o
Also, it does lots of damage. Lots of small nudges is a great way to absolutely destroy the square of your vehicle that’s doing the nudging - unless that’s been fixed in recent versions, that’s will do far more damage than a single big hit, even when the thing you’re nudging is small car and your vehicle is large, armored military behemoth.
Where’s the best place to look for an atomic lamp?
Thinking of fortifying this evac shelter that’s relatively close to where I spawned, but I’m going to need a 24-hour source of light so I can read/craft/sew whenever I need to.

Evac shelters have computers in them already which give off light 24-hours, so you shouldn’t need one. However I did just find one in just a normal house, so if you still want one, I would just start raiding the neighborhoods.

I think other than random hella rare spawns in houses and such your best shot is finding a rivtech design binder in a lab somewhere so you can craft it.

Hospitals probably, as beds there have a 1% chance of having them.
I mostly find them while looting bedrooms and living rooms in houses.
I’d use lightstrips or a generator/solar-vehicle for light until then.
