Out tank them. owo

At max range.
At night.
With a rocket launcher and many rockets.
Or a High-powered sniper rifle with the best ammunition you can find.
Also pay attention to your message box.
If you get laser painted, stop what you’re doing and run.

it has several different weapon types which it uses depending on distance.
The mid-range option (the machine gun) is probably the safest bet as long as you wear decent armour. head, face, torso-- everywhere. Make sure you’re wearing the best armour possible. Preferably fireproof armour too.

I managed to damage one severely until I ran out of ammo once, then came back at night to finish it off in melee. Even with full armour those things exploding hurt like hell.
A high powered rifle and nightvision goggles work well in my experience. Tank drone can’t fight what it can’t see after all.

Artificial Night Generator Works wonders

You could also take them out at extreme range (and prejudice) with any number of ‘edge of the reality bubble’ weapons. Such as 50 cal rifles, rail drivers or the surprisingly easy to build slingshot cannon

Failing this one could overwhelm the tankbot via steering a large group of zombies towards it.

You could also get a vehicle going very fast and dive out before the tank bot fires its main gun.

Control Laptop

Martial Arts

Yet.
It should really get IR sight, if not full NV.
No reason for turrets to be NV capable but not the top-of-the-range tankdrone. Except there’s no way to mask your body heat at present is there?
Could probably use some kind of thermal cloaking CBM-- or maybe chaff grenades?

Also once you’ve killed them they leave a nice corpse that can be disassembled for some sweet loot.
I’d say it weighs a ton, but it doesn’t. It weighs much much more. >.>

Railgun-- yeah, those are another good choice.

I could see a tinfoil suit defeating a drone’s start of the art targeting systems…

I took one out in the last stable version (+vehicle additions mod) by doing a 120+mph driveby with a storm bolter turret and explosive bolts. It only took one burst, surprisingly.

You definitely have to be going crazy fast if you’re going to get close enough for that sort of thing, though.

Lure them to zombies and it’ll run out of ammo pretty quick, especially if you’re on dynamic spawn. They can’t do shit to it and then you can just walk up and shoot shoot shoot.

Also, they don’t explode if the finishing blow is a directional EMP

How does one scroll down to read all of an items’ description?

Page Up and Page Down keys.

;w; mac air doesn’t have page up/down buttons :frowning: no extended item desc for me. >.< New key all the things!

So, I’ve got a newb question. The help text about thirst mentions being able to get water from rivers, and using the “pick up items” command to do so. However, when I try to do it, nothing happens. I’ve got 2 plastic bottles that should work for this, but when I press the g and , keys, it takes a turn without doing anything. I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing wrong?

(e)xamine is the key it is refering to. To use (e) » direction you want to look/interact with. This includes diagonals (default y,u,b, and n) It is recommended that you cook the water you get rather than drinking straight form contaminated sources useing the crafting menu
(&) » cooking tab (> key twice) » clean water

I’ve been playing for awhile but I still have problems with NPCs, I’m just wondering how you guys deal with them. I know most of you just slaughter each one you come across, I like playing with them because I usually have one tag along with me when I can. But early game hostile NPCs are pretty much certain death, so for those who play with them, how do you deal with these situations?

Start up newest version of Cata »
set NPC spawn rate to .25 or .1, set other preffered settings »
start new world, create character etc… »
Try really hard to get starter NPC to be follower before having to leave to zombie munch fate »
If successful, keep NPC from doing anything self-destructive/stupid to best of ability, if not skip step »
check map semi regularly, for anything new, if NPC try to see first, see what weapon is whatever case may be best bet is probably still to keep distance unless sure I can take them.
When told to drop weapon, do. If NPC continues to be obnoxious/try to steal shit, pick up weapon, kill. If not become friends, send on way if not possible, surrender and curse NPC for being better equiped than me. If NPC is non wander, plot revenge. If is wander, run over/drive-by if possible.

Most of the time I end up either losing some stuff but @ lives, or they become friendly. Due to high volatility of NPC’s I just keep em low spawn or they end up swarming the map and I get surounded by NPC’s trapped just outside reality bubble that I will inevitably encounter if I go anywhere. Best bet to get rid of NPC that is hostile and won’t stop chasing you is to make them run into another hostile, such as a zom etc… that they can attack instead and lose track of you.

One of my npc’s legs is depleted of hp, can I do anything about it?

how do you mean by depleted? Do you mean that its so damaged it no longer exists? or do you mean, its really hurt and I need to heal quickly.
If limb is non-existant you need to find the stem cell therapy thing in lab/hospital I think.

If injured, find med-kits/bandages or anything that might heal. First aid books are a bigy. Try to get skilled enough you can craft the basics without the book, just in case you get stranded from home.

Other than that, if you can just stay away from damaging creatures/ stick to ranged fighting until your limb is better, you should be fine. Rest will get it better as long as you are not bleeding out. Sleeping increases how fast your limbs HP regens but is not strictly necessary.

I doen’t exist any more…guess I found my next quest…
