One more about stats over 20:

Do stats over 20 continue to give higher and higher bonuses? Or is there a cap after which improvement does nothing?
Yes the boni from stats keep increasing with increasing stats past 20. You can easily boost your str over 20 with hydraulik muscle for example wich alone adds +20 str.

So i’m playing the new experimental, and I ran into one of those fancy new acidic zombies, and he really did a number on me in our little dance. I survived, but I was pretty roughed up.

I got to my shelter and slept it off, but my legs won’t recover from ‘:’. First Aid kits also don’t work on it. Are they crippled forever, or do I need some special healing item to get them to heal up again, because right now my movement speed is halved and that’s not bueno.

You need to make and use leg splints. Those damn acid zombies always seem to f&^* me up too, lol.
I will consider using molotovs. The only reason I don’t want to use my shotgun is because I don’t have the armor to withstand taking hits from a hulk. And good explosives are too expensive when you can’t craft black gunpowder and you don’t have many shotgun shells.

I think I’m gonna try using the turret on my APC, or ramming it. If that goes horribly, horribly wrong, shotguns and possibly molotovs it is.

Unless, of course, I end up splattered across the road.
The way I usually kill hulks is to taser them and pull out the shotgun.

Real quick nooby question. I’ve been puttering around in a truck, and once I’m done I’ll usually stop for several hours or so. When I get back, the battery has died. This has happened a few times now.

When I get out of the vehicle, I’ve been making sure to hit ‘e’ to turn it off. Am I missing something else?
Note that this keeps happening with low (<15%) charge batteries. Do they just do that?

First check your Dubs. Next, try turning off your lights, dome lights, and floodlights. Those will all drain power from the vehicle.

Does the above follow for Cruise Control as well?

Probably?..

anytime you see light where there should be none, follow to appropriate vehicle and turn off so it doesn’t go dead before you can loot battery/steal vehichle/make repairs and use etc…

Right. I’ve been making sure to turn the lights off on the truck, so I know that’s not it. Come to think of it, the headlights were dead on that last occurance anyway.

Cruise control does not consume any of your car’s battery power in either DDA or real life.

Didn’t think so. Hooray for asking newby questions!

though irl, a good driver is gets better gas mileage than cruise control, especially in hilly terrain. In game its the opposite if it has any effect at all…not do to any mechanics mind you, but because I can only imagine you would be speeding up/slowing down constantly with cruise control off.

I have a question:

How can I raise my mechanics skill without advanced tools and with limited exploration options?

I set up base in the evac shelter and fully explored the only town that was in my immediate area. I found no books raising mechanics, no Hacksaw/Welder, and no locked doors to lockpick. I managed to level up once from building a cart to carry stuff from and to my shelter, but I don’t know how to level it up any further.

I want to build a driveable car to loot bigger towns and use as a mobile base, and I already found the vehicle I want to modify, but have no idea how to start repairing it or building/adding more parts.

Take apart that cart and put it back together many, many times. :stuck_out_tongue:

If the battery of the vehicle is damaged it will lose power overtime. Just press “e” to examine the vehicle and look for the battery, if it’s yellow or anything below that it will lose power.

Not at my CDDA computer, so I can’t check for several hours, but that sounds like it’s probably the cause of the issue.

So as a gauge of how slowly and frankly poorly I play, what do most players have by the end of summer? That’s about the furthest I’ve made it, and that’s generally because I run into evolved zombies. Speaking of evolved zombies, does anyone have a list or a chart showing what evolves into what? Or is that considered spoilers?

Here you go, should probably see about making it into a flowchart or something.
It’s in monsters.json and monstergroups.json. I guess I’ll do the hard part and start reading up…edit will occur when I get the whole bloody list.

EDIT: Hnnng.

As for your first question, what’s the season length you play on? When I used to do 31 day seasons with default values and no hordes I’d usually have a full set of survivor gear before summer if I had to scavenge the materials and books for expertise to make it myself. Much earlier, sometimes within the first week if I got lucky with basements and survivor zombie drops.
