Speaking of launcher skill, what is a good way to raise this?
It’s not like there’s enough launcher ammo in the game to just keep shooting things with most launcher type weapons…

Make a spray can flamethrower or aux flame thrower and keep firing that, ammo is gasoline.

The basic launcher books can get you skill up to a reasonable level, 3 in the case of Jane’s Mortars and Rocket Launcher. If you’re using Tank mod, Artillery and Field gunnery can boost it up to 6.
Depends. Martial art techniques can use “crit_tec” and “stun_dur”, but essentially it’s based off bashing damage.
As long as you hit over the stun cap with bashing damage you’ll stun the enemy for a bit.
That’s why even 0 melee 0 bashing newbie survivors can permastun enemies with a baseball bat. Lure them onto a bush or something – whack, 20 damage. whack, 20 damage. whack damage, stunned.
Might be worth checking out tear gas canisters in the code as well, since that can stun zeds IIRC.
So, uh…
I suppose equipment made of rubber “insulate” you from electric attacks…
Riiight? Because a Shocker Brute is the only thing between me and a electronics store and all I got is a cudgel, so…
Is it currently possible to perform First Aid on NPCs? I’ve accidentally gone and gotten attached to my starter buddy, the only problem is she’s all beat up with a broken leg to boot. I set her on guard duty on top of a bed in the lab we’ve hunkered down in for a bit but she doesn’t seem to be improving.

Using a cudgel or other nonconductive weapon will prevent a Shocker Zed from causing contact electrocution when you attack. But I don’t know if putting on something like a pair of fishing waders will protect aganist lighting attacks.
As of the latest experimental, and by that I mean the one I pulled two days ago. It’s not currently possible to perform First Aid on NPC’s. I really wish it was possible too, as nearly every NPC in my care dies eventually to a Feral Hunter impaling their chest. They literally follow me wholeheartedly with blood spilling from their chest, and there’s not a damn thing I can do about it.
At this point I’ve given up on bringing NPC’s with me, unless its to man turrets on my tank. But I still make a strong effort to protect them by bringing them into my Mansion Fortress, where they can be safe from all the damn Feral Hunters.
NPCs use bandages and first aid that you trade to them.
Ofc you cant just tell them to use the item.
And you cant just perform first aid on them yourself if you got better skillz.
PLZ FIX NPC!

Has anyone tried reinforcing windows with metal bars? Are they viable? Will they let zombies through?
General reinforcement of doors and windows, I’m wondering if they’re viable in staving off hordes.
Speaking of hordes, are they fixed in the current version or are they still overpowered?
So far, they’ve worked pretty well for me in helping to stave off hordes. Reinforced Doors can only be smashed down by Hulks it seems, and the Armored Windows with metal bars can also only be destroyed by Hulks. All of the common rabble is helpless to do more than pound on them, .
As for hordes in the current version? They’re TERRIFYING. Or at least, when playing on 10x spawns like I do. They are pretty much guaranteed to kill any unprepared survivor, even skilled players early on. My main methods of dealing with them even late game usually involves carrying around Blade Traps in my shopping cart(They’re horrifyingly Overpowered), and using them to create portable kill zones
If you’re looking to make a really quickly fortifiable position when dealing with an incoming horde, Chapels can be reinforced for cheap, as they usually are made of Rock(Hulk smashable only), and there’s usually no more than 2, or 4 doors all on the exterior. The wood you need to reinforce the doors can be obtained by disassembling the pulpits.
Cool beans, thanks for the info.
I got a bandit camp nearby, with about 8 bandits/thugs. I want to kill them all without compromising the loot. Any ideas?
(No fire, it’s in a forest, and it would compromise the loot despite being the easiest way.)
I got lucky with a previous bunch of highwaymen who were from the same group, I previously made a big batch of dynamite and molotovs which I used to dispose them, didn’t manage to get that much loot since most of it burned up. Still, it coincidentally saved my life anyway.
However, it seems any NPC that seems to wander in that 4x4 map square turns into a bandit/thug. Can’t have this happen anymore.

If you have an optical cloak and a UPS to power it, I saw one guy hilariously sweep the place effortlessly with it.
Alternatively, if you can bulldoze your way through the forest, any vehicle with a mounted weapon will work well.

Coincidentally I DO have an optical cloak and a UPS cbm that I JUST found. I was thinking more of a night time raid with (tear) gas bombs and using rifles to pick off the stragglers.
Thanks though, now I actually have a way of tearing through these guys.
I recall that the first time I tried the peasant challenge, I spawned right next to a bandit camp. Thankfully it was midnight due to my abusing Stats Through Skills, so it was easy to avoid them.
Unless they’ve changed NPC vision since then, the bandits are all hopelessly night blind. If you can night-vision, you can sneak in and troll the everloving shit out of them, unless one of the vehicles spawning there has its lights on.
Plinking away at one of them worked too, as it seems they ignore gunfire unless it hits them, and you can use it to kite one into their own minefield…
Crafted and automatic shotgun from an m2 and went in a blaze of glory, never saw it coming.

I actually came across a problem
The NPC’s were posted around as usual but they weren’t hostile. So they just sat there and did nothing. I was able to creep up on them as if they were regular NPC guards (check their wounds, etc.) When I killed a couple they were treated as if they were innocent NPC’s ( As if they are. )
Anyway I had to abandon my armor since the encumberment of the cloak is stupidly high. Since I still had head armor I assumed I was safe from one shot head shots.
Boy was I wrong.
Save scummed, i’m going to run in there decked out in my armor to get them hostile then kill them later on. Probably mess with the guys a little more before I do the deed.
Thinking about sneaking in at night and just killing the guards via gas bombs, and explosives if it gets nasty.
I recall that, ja. That is why you use the psychopath trait. Preemptive self-defense. X3
You can talk to them and they give no fucks, but if I recall they have no conversations available. It’s literally just a “hi, bye” screen unless they changed that.
Precisely what I did. Cheated and used console to gain psychopath and murder exterminate the helpless npc’s bugs.
Removed it afterward. Currently contemplating if all this sick loot is mine or if I have to burn it due to me being a cheater for it.
Did do the gas bomb thingy however. Didn’t seem to get damaged. used countless tear gas canisters and gas bombs and the only thing that seemed to damage them was a grenade that I threw, or maybe the gas/fume damage is negligible at best.
Am thinking about keeping it, since the only thing I cheated was the psychopath trait and that was due to NPC’s being bugged out.
Yesss, all the loot is yours. X3
The epic quest of much needed winter supplies continues!
Hello, noob question here, could you tell me how to see inside a car’s trunk ? I can not find a hotkey in the help menu. Is there a hotkey ? Thanks.
