Speaking of colds and flu, why is it that I keep getting cold after cold when I have about 70 health stat? I’ve also now taken a flu shot and I’m chugging vitamins.

Also… is there a turret stat guide anywhere? I want to plan out what’s worth having.
Health doesn’t help much. Mouth environmental protection does, though. Filter mask grants immunity to cold and flu.

Turrets have stats like their weapons, except for range and recoil. Range is usually 12, recoil is roughly 30 times lower than for player.

A needler sounds like it would be terrible based on what I seem to remember it’s made of, but I could be wrong.
i wear gas mask or PBA mask at all times they protect wearer agaist boomer bille, smoke, gas, cold and flu

before you craft turret you can examine item what will be created after crafting and ammo matters too when you are using guns what use it and even weak weapons like pulse laser can be realy good with enought ammo

Bleh, I derped up the code tag placement last night.

And yeah, the health stat seems to be more useful for how it affects health recovery overnight.

Seriously, I think the cold needs to be checked for less often. It makes Disease Resistant useless because you will EVENTUALLY catch it simply due to the sheer frequency of RNG hits.

How often is it checked for anyway?

Triggers when ever the char regens…

Using a one in doesn’t feel right to me for things like this…
So…basically once a night? Unless that check is rolled multiple times during overnight regen, that’s not as horrific as I thought. And yeah, that way of handling the roll doesn’t sound ideal, though I’m unsure what alternatives would be best.

So every time I use the rapair nanobots cbm there is a chance I can get sick?

Sickness chance should scale with season length.

I need a cunning plan.

There’s a military outpost nearby and there is a CRAPLOAD of nice items around it but it’s surrounded by turrets.

I need a way of taking those out without getting close.

I am currently limited to an M4A1 and about 45 rounds, some .308 rounds and no gun to use them with, a reflex recurve bow, and a repeater crossbow. And a pistol which is irrelevant.

I was thinking of trying to make explosive arrows but it appears you need a crapload of gunpowder to make even one arrowhead and you need to make five arrowheads before you’re allowed to make some explosive arrows. Is that right?

I’ve yet to find any gunpowder or anything to craft it with. I don’t have a vehicle yet.

You might just need to save it for a bit until you get some more gear. Or a vehicle.

I attacked a military outpost once with an optical cloak and a directional EMP bionic once. I almost made it, too, but I took off my optical cloak too soon without paying attention to the fact that there was another set of turrets in range of me.

For a less high-tech approach, my best guess is probably get a vehicle going, then charge it right at the turrets, perhaps backing off to repair after taking out a set. Then again, I’ve never successfully attacked a military outpost before, so take my words with a grain of salt.

If you’re playing in experimental, destroying the turrets may well destroy the stuff (explosions are CRAZY big, and destroy stuff on the ground really bad… though that last part seems to have improved in the week or so).

I would recommend making vehicle walls and just leaving the turrets alone… except that the fencing makes that problematic. Seriously, at the moment, getting the stuff on the ground around the turrets is VERY problematic without one of the three ways to cloak (optical cloak, bionic version of same, artifact that makes you invisible).

Now BUNKERS on the other hand, are a piece of cake.

Gah. I really need that stuff. There’s power armour, an advanced UPS, weapons…

What do you mean by vehicle walls?

And on an unrelated note, I’m being dumb and can’t work out how to create Yarn.

I have a distaff and spindle but you can’t activate it and I don’t see yarn in the crafting menu.

Yarn is used to make felt patches, if I recall. Wool patches would sound more logical. o3o

And…on a vehicle frame, you want boards. Sheet metal, wooden frames, etc.

No no, I meant why would I want to make vehicle parts? What’s the relevance here?

And as for yarn, yes I know it’s used to make felt patches but I can’t work out how you make the yarn.

Sadly you can’t shear sheep, last I checked. Because go on, guess how you would craft wool. o3o

And…I thought the suggestion of making vehicle boards was for assaulting turrets? You make a crude pavise bu installing boards on a frame light enough to be pushed, this lets you get near the turrets because they can’t shoot what they can’t see.

Ahh, I wondered if you meant something like that.

… But there must be a way to make yarn, right? I think if you deconstruct wool items you get the felt patches but some items in the crafting menu seem to want yarn itself.

Also… what in the world are these “growing blob” items I found in the crafting menu for?

You can unravel felt patches. ^^"

Turret accuracy is dismal, so if it’s night, and if you have enough:

a)meth
b)oxycodone
c)Mbr vests
d)suicial overconfidence

You might be able to deplete their ammo supply by repeatedly running in and out of their maximum range. I know it sounds moronic, but you can actually pull it off.

Wouldnt recommend it if you are liking your current char though.

Might be a better Idea to camp around the outpost ad let the turrets shoot the reviving zombies until they are out of ammo

EMP grenades are great for a situation like this.
I’ve found them in crates in the middle of the forest before, so you might get lucky, too.

Actually this seems to be working. Every time I walk past I hear gunshots and explosions and it seems the turrets are blowing up after running out of ammo… Or being killed by the zombies but I don’t think so.

Unless there has been a change recently (possible), military turrets are INSTADEATH. Seriously, until just last week, I had never survived a single round of fire from a military turret.

Last week, with a well-armored character with all the alloy CBMs, I took 1 round of fire and survived… with half a bar of health left on my torso.

Regular turrets, yeah, I’ve done that (it’s pretty easy if you don’t get closer than 18, with is their max range), but military ones? Just no.

As to “vehicle walls” - make a vehicle of light frames 3 squares wide, put boards on them, and push them in front of you. Experiment where it’s safe until you can make it work every time. Casters or other wheels help.
