Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

in a rougelike? tutututut…

(though i do tend to do so if i feel the game cheated on me…)

Who is the rat in refugee center? I tried to talk to anyone, but get stuck on that quest.

I’ve yet to try that quest, so…hmm.

he spawns after starting that quest, the one that has a option to ask if he knows if there someone .(forgot). in the center
think he also says he ‘new here’

and i think he is to the left of the merchant… amusing the way in is facing north (i yet to find one that facing any otherway)…

ps.
is there even a basement coded…?

I think I debug-ported down there and found nothing, if I recall.

i feel i remember going down there once and saw npcs who then attacked me and i died(large burst firearms hurt…) …but every time i try lately…nada

also is there any over quest chains then the 4? at the ranch… 2? at the center and the 2? at the vault

Just debug-spawn the food after failing if you don’t feel like accepting RNG.

But it makes me feel less cheat-y. ;A;

The effect is the same, just with less pretending not to cheat.

I know it’s still cheating, it’s called reloading or just loading if it’s in a game where savescumming isn’t reviled. XP

Just mean it makes me feel better if I at least have to put some effort into cheating.

Then how do you feel about calling them aborted timelines when you get murdered by something and then try again.

I only feel good calling it time travel shenanigans when I’m playing a doctor. XP

So riddle me this; why is the tanto considered to be a sword in the latest experimental when it is a knife in the latest stable?
It is the same size (or smaller) than a combat knife.

Well, that sounds like a mistake. Should definitely be a knife, right?

Which reminds me. I’m curious about scabbards. Is the benefit essentially that the weapon won’t take up volume in your inventory?

And is there much point in me wearing a sword in a scabbard if my main weapon is an awl pike? Is there an advantage to swords or is the pike just generally amazing due to the ridiculous reach?

Gunpowder now require sulfur and saltpeter, neither if which can be crafted. Is this correct?

I always end up with a bow & arrow character, and would quite like to try something different, but sustainable machine-gunning does not seem to be an option at the moment, unless I missed something.

Where do you FIND Sulphur and Saltpeter?

Also, the latter should be craftable. I seem to recall in real life you can make it out of pee or guano.

Anyway something tells me the pneumatic bolt driver will always be awesome.

I need to know something

I haven’t used archery since I was starting out playing cata (Crafting longbows and using crossbows)
Now I mainly use melee weapons and occasionally explosives. (Molotov’s ftw)

I want to know, the better your archery gets, do you get more accurate? Also, the better your archery/strength effect your draw speed?

Based on my experience, you get more accurate. I am currently at archery skill 8 now, and frequently 1-shot lesser zombies and predators at close range, because the increased accuracy also translates into more ‘good’, ‘critical’ and ‘head-shots’.

You can now craft your own mods for bows, which improves accuracy by decreasing dispersion. The result is that you have to aim for a few seconds to achieve maximum steadiness, which will improve your accuracy/quality of your shot. After aiming, you can keep firing arrows at maximum steadiness as long as you don’t move, even if you change targets, because bow/arrow has zero recoil. This can take out entire hordes of low ranking zombies (may consider footwear with acid protection for those pesky spitters if you want to stand and deliver legolas-style).

Drawspeed is unaffected by strength/skill as far as I know.

science labs most common place for them

Because someone decided that the item’s volume was an indication that it shouldn’t be sheathable, instead of going the sane route and lowering its volume. Since they didn’t catch the combat knife’s volume, that’s what you’d call a PR failure, I’m afraid.

Pikes have delicious reach but are agonizingly slow, sadly. And yeah, scabbards and sheaths are for clearing out space in your inventory. Now that sheathed blades can be used for the purpose of butchering or cutting up clothing, this is a tad more useful than the feature originally was.

EDIT: Um no, combat knives have 2 volume, tantos have 3. I’m gonna eat you for making me assume there was a fuckup when there isn’t one. :V
