Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Here was thinking more with the highly flammable fungus creatures with that… there also a link down at the bottom with some over weirder ammo types…

Still would be nice to see a mod that does to ammo what people seem to do more to guns… (i have no sense of balance really so…)

If we’re thinking exotic ammo types, do we have shotgun grenades yet? Those exist in real life now.

… Meanwhile I found a solution to my thieving NPC problem.

I told the NPC in question to drop her weapon and bugger off, and she did.

I have a free fully loaded M4A1.

counts? i guess…

…yet it recipe dosn’t make much sense…

Sounds exactly like what I was thinking of other than being home made as opposed to a military grade fin stabilised projectile.

Anyhow I’m a little stuck here. Can anyone tell me how the hell to get my hands on strings?

When I played previous versions all the windows seemed to have them, but the mansions I’m finding in my current game don’t have blinds on the windows it seems so there aren’t any strings.

I need strings themselves and also thread.

And some way of lighting fires, otherwise I’m in deep poo.

I was going to make a camp fire drill but I don’t have the strings.

If you’re desperate, you can disassemble rags. That takes an hour per 100 thread.

You could also grind up tailoring to 3, make a short rope then disassemble it into strings.

well i looked at the map gen and the “non-homemade” version dosn’t even spawn at all… (Relic to save savefile compatability maybe?)

If you have sinew and a sewing kit/bone needle then you can magically turn in to string somehow…

Get thread to make strings, too. If you only have sinew or plant fiber, load it into a sewing needle, then unload.

If you’re in a mansion, smash or dismantle the beds. Lots of rags.

I’m in the process of making my Luxury RV (the one where I foolishly attempted to fill a diesel tank with gasoline), and I am trying to see which engines are best. Is there a guide or info page for this? Also, whenever I try to take off engines, it says that something is attached to it. Does this mean its welded in or something?

It means a alternator is attached to it

Get the biggest (by the number before the name) gas or diesel engine you can find. Pick the fuel type you’ve got more of (usually gas). That’s the best engine.

The thing that’s attached to it is alternator. You need to take that off first before you can take off the engine.

Thanks.

I don’t have sinew or plant fibre either… Maybe it’s because I was butchering bees rather than other animals?

Weird. Stupid bees lost their nerve? Literally? o3o

If you can find a swamp nearby, search for cattails.

I’ve been breaking down rags. That worked.

I am currently being frustrated with how long jerky seems to take to make…

Instead of crafting it one by one, use batch crafting (b in crafting menu).

Exactly. I think jerky received a batch multiplier, so…it SHOULD cost less time to make a batch.

Son of a…

I wish I’d worked that out earlier. I’ll try it.

Everyone derps and fails to notice batch crafting at first. I did that, SilverDragon did that… o3o

and here stopped using it after failing and ‘wasting materials’ when make 20 of something i forgot (i think it was ammo before i found that i ended up loving reusable ammo like arrows n bolts)

Behold the virtues of savescumming. =w=
