(currently) when you go down stairs, the game makes enemies follow you down based on distance, not accessibility.
If you’re behind walls above ground, and there are enemies trying to attack you outside those walls, if you go down stairs, they will ignore the walls, appearing at the stairs underground a few turns later.

As for distance from cities to not get a horde spawn… I think just two maptiles, but that’s pure speculation.

Hi hi,

My computer is an eeePC901 with a french azerty keyboard, running Linux Lubuntu.
The game runs nicely, but i have some trouble with some keys.

I move with the arrows, so only 4 directions. In other games, like TOME4, i can set Ctrl+UP to go NE, Ctrl+RIGHT to go SE, and so on. I didn’t find a way to do this in Cataclysm. When i go to ingae options, and try to set Ctrl+UP, thee game tells me that “5 is already in use” or something like that… Shift or Alt don’t seem to be better. Help ?

How do i control a vehicle ? I can ride a motorcycle, but then i don’t know how to stop it and to walk again.

Is the ingame menu up to date with DDA version ?

Up accelerates, down decelerates, ‘$’ accesses vehicle options, ‘s’ is emergency stop (use carefully, or awesomely, depending on how much you like power slides’), ‘e’ will let you disembark (preferably after braking).

Once upon a mod you could 'e’xamine it and sift through, looking for an item and clearing the wreck away; I haven’t tried it in DDA yet. It takes some time per tile, so be careful.

Can someone please tell me how to take apart a lawnmower? I have everything I need to make a lawnmower halberd, except for the lawnmower blade. I have a wrench, but it doesn’t give me the prompt to take the lawnmower apart. I’m getting quite frustrated.

As with (almost) all of the objects in the game, you can disassemble them using ‘(’ and then choosing the item.

That might cut down (or increase, :p) the current molotov-frenzy some people use as a playstyle.
Hydrogen ammo in particular should be quite violent.

Fail, burning hydrogen != fusion. It actually burns at a relatively low temperature compared to gasoline.

I believe so, though the cans don’t actually matter to the process, you get a minimal amount of practice for firing a weapon, much more for hitting a monster, more yet for a critical hit on a monster. Some weapons (BB guns) are capped at lvl 1 though
