The music and sound effects aren’t bundled with the game, this post has instructions and a link to the sound pack: http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=10390.msg246793#msg246793
What’s the best vehicle to start out with?
Also, is there a place I can the ascii version of the latest stable release?
The graphical version doesn’t run on my computer so I’ll usually use the experimental versions.
Even just dragging along a shopping cart or wheelbarrow (G to grab it) is a big help. Next step up is a bicycle, muscle-powered is reliable but not that fast.
Any old car or truck you find in good condition, or a motorcycle to more easily navigate the city, is good.
A solar car will just about make your day, whether as-is or used for parts to convert a different vehicle to solar power.
And if you’re using tank mod…have Fun. <3
And…ack. Lemme see if I find it. Could’ve sworn it’d be either on the main site, or the wiki.

thanks
You do miss out on all the fun new mods though. XP
I’ll usually download a new experimental version every couple of days or so, but that’s mostly just to play around. I’ll use the stable version to make a character I actually want to survive. :3
Ah. Not sure which is currently easiest to survive in, at the moment. You can transfer a save from one experimental build to another, though there are sometimes save incompatibilities.
Ahh. I see. Thanks, downloading now.
Meanwhile I have another question.
Are Hordes actually a feature feasible to play with at the moment? I just tried them out for the first time and I’m not sure what on earth happened.
From my starting point (helicopter crash) I noticed that there were two towns. One to the east, one to the south. The one to the south was covered in green Z symbols on the world map. The one to the east was not, so I headed that way. I shot one giant wasp on the way and when I looked at the world map again almost immediately after, THAT town was full of green Z symbols.
Then a skeleton and a bunch of fat zombies kicked my arse.
It can’t have been a horde following the sound, right? Because it just magically switched from one town to the other.
It wasn’t a gradual movement.
I’m using static spawn. But with the horde option turned on. I’m not sure if it was a horde that got me or just normal zombies.
Hordes are still kinda FUBAR last I checked.
And hellaciously good pageget there. XP
the antichrist is among us
Well… hordes are officially stupid. I just reloaded my save, realised it took me back a few steps so I managed to kill the skeleton and went to the other town.
WELP. Full of zombies / green Zs too.
So I officially couldn’t actually go anywhere to do anything useful. At all.
If anything I feel hordes should be programmed to only start happening after a certain period of time.
At least, I’m assuming this is hordes I’m encountering because I got killed by something like 100 zombies of all kinds converging on me.
And of course meanwhile I know dynamic spawn is annoying and static spawn, while satisfying to start with, will mean eventually the town is empty of enemies.
What do you do at that point?
Also, some say 616 is the true number of the beast. Who posted first on THAT page?
If the first poster on the 616th page is named Nero or some such thing, I’m gonna die laughing.
Anyway…yeah, hordes. Not a fun idea to use that setting. A !!FUN!! idea though.
And yet it should be great to have hordes. Just… not working like this, perhaps?
When I heard about them I thought there would be one or two roaming the visible world map, not a horde in every bloody town completely filling it up.
Looks like the page 616 antichrist is Azrad by the way.
Toned down maybe, yeah. Or maybe working somewhat like dynamic spawn’s “reactive to noise” thing, only ramped up slightly.
Though I think that’s how it’s SUPPOSED to work, and since dynamic spawn is FUBAR that makes horde spawning FUBAR squared.
Dynamic spawn is fubar?
It’s been a very long time since I tried using it. What happens? Infinite zombies coming after you because you’re making noise killing the infinite zombies?
Apparently, yeah. Thing is, it’s supposed to risk spawning more than you can handle if you use too noisy a gun, but there have been complaints of this being blown out of proportion, especially with quieter activities.
if your gonna use wander spawns i would decrease city size to 2 so at least you don’t get insta mobbed too bad
i know any time i have wonder spawns on, never making over 6 noise…and i still wake up with around 250 zombies outside my tent after sleeping in the middle of nowhere…
OK I’m not sure wtf is going on now. I turned off Wander spawns in the options and then “reset” the world.
Started a new character off and there’s a huge patch of green Z symbols on the map.
!?
There shouldn’t be any hordes now right?
