It wont. It also won’t protect you against the amigara horrors’ terrifying visage (because adjacent monsters count as being visible)
Tinfoil hats will though. :V
Tall buildings adds tall buildings, but doesn’t enable any activity outside current z-level. Z-levels in options enable activity (burning fires, spreading smoke, walking zombies etc.), but don’t add buildings that use it (basements still do use it, though).
So, I am playing the latest experimental and have a few questions:
-
Does 3x3 stone -1 in the center still a viable indoor fire option?
-
I vaguely read about NO NPC PICKUP ZONE like several days ago in the forum as a feature of a build. Can anyone explain what it is?

Not sure what you mean by the first one, but for the second? Hit “Y” (uppercase) for the zone options, add a zone and define its area. Then you’ll have the choice of what type of zone you want it to be.

Save indoor fireplaces are: an 'a’pplied brazier or a constructed fireplace/stove. Everything else will eventually burn the house down if it is not made of fireproof materials
Or an oven, if I recall. However, ovens and braziers won’t contain smoke.
You define a zone with the zone manager (“Y”) and friendly NPCs will not pick up items in that zone.
And the rest are dead NPCs…
So what is the best plan as far as mutations go with “stats-through-skills”?
Don’t cross the threshold not to lose prime stats?
So, since I’ve come back to the game, this has been bugging me. What are the Reach Attacks?
Press "f"ire if you’re wielding a spear. Stab faces 2 tiles away. Unlike the bullwhip’s pseudo reach attack, it actually seems to use the attack damage and techniques that weapon uses for melee.
SONOFA, That’s wonderful, I had no clue. So I guess ive been fighting fair this whole time.
Spears are delicious now, which does help make up for them typically having slower attacks due to their weight.
Does anyone here play with wander spawns on? I tried them with the most recent version hoping they were better, but I got swarmed from the get-go
I tried it with static mode and wander spawns a few times. It can get weird, but depends strongly on what all you do to attract attention.
I realized I still don’t understand the zombie evolution at all. Is there a flowchart somewhere that demonstrates (all) the (possible) evolutionary steps? Or is the system based on tiers, and the next evolutionary state of a zombie is chosen randomly from the next tier?
Each enemy that can evolve has a set monster it evolves to, along with a “half-life” stat that affects how long it takes relative to other evolving enemies, which is modified overall by the worldgen option.
Now if only we had a Cataclysm Pokedex to list all those…
EDIT: Turns out I’m part wrong there. A monster can also be made to upgrade into a monster GROUP instead of a single monster. Zombies in particular are basically the Cataclysm equivalent to eevee here. XP
Zombies aren t cute at all :((((
I choose you, zombue hul- OHGODNOTTHEFACE!
Also, dare I ask why zombies can upgrade into so many oddball, advanced steps? Like, they can become spitters or CORROSIVE zombies, but not acidic ones. Likewise, they can become feral hunters or predators, but not runners. Likewise maaaybe we should remove grapplers, huge boomers, and hulks in favor of their pre-evolved forms that are already on the list.
