He actually just has to yell/mentally assault you. Once you get within 10 tiles of his location, regardless of if you are through walls, or if you have the entire legions of hell between you and him, he can start to assault you with small amounts of the Ratting disease with every time he says something.

Also, my motorcycle in 0.C seems to work perfectly fine with just one wheel, what's up with that? Although I have to admit that imagining my survivor just wheelie-ing through the Cataclysm bring a smile to my face.
Probably because there's not that much difference between a motorcycle with a broken wheel, and an off-balance unicycle. One is a totally viable vehicle, and the other is absurd, but it's difficult to look at a random vehicle and say whether it is one or the other.

How big? 3x3 is fine, a full density 5x5 could happen rarely, anything more than is weird.[/quote]

4x4 at least for each fungaloid, kinda 5x5 sometimes. Like the spore clouds spawned upon death of a fungaloid turn into fungal terrain immediately.

Is there no recipe for the vortex core yet? There’s recipes for the engine and generator, but neither can work without the core, and when I searched for the vortex stuff in the crafting menu, an error popped up regarding the core.

afaik vortex core is a byproduct of both the engine and generator

Hmm. If I recall, that’s from a recipe bug, the byproducts are wrong.

By the way, do smoker zombies generate sound? Once in a while near basements I’d be deafened and whatnot for some reason.

There might be a turret in the distance. Or something exploding. Do you have Poor Hearing? One time I was testing explosives, using a poor-hearing character, and was far enough away that the “you hear an explosion” message didn’t show, but a “you’re deafened” message DID. >.>

Shouldn’t be deafened by things you can’t hear to begin with. I hope someone adjusts this! XD

It was a few versions ago though. Still, it’s presumably something generating deafening noises without any messages giving a clue about the cause.

It’s still on the recent one. It’s certainly generating a lot of noise; was shooting at the cluster of zombies with the redhawk and nothing is going near me to see where the gunshot is coming from.

Hmm. Maybe an engine running? If it’s powerful enough, it can be deafening. I need to test whether any of the V12 ranges are loud enough, but I can confirm that if a diesel counterpart existed, it would be.

Can’t be an engine. I did the shooting indoors, in the middle of a mall.

…you sure it wasn’t your gunshots doing that? >.>

EDIT: Where are the vehicle groups for humves, military cargo trucks, and the various APCs?

I’ve just made it to the end of my first lab and here’s only something called a “cvd mashine”, what is that? It has a console but I can’t interact with it.

Redhawk only did around 23 sound, and zombies being shot were around 10 tiles away, yet didn’t try to go near me while shooting. And on the case of being at ground level and smokers below, I was going at it melee.

CVD machine is like a tool you need for diamond bladed weapons.

well, it would make sense in some cases - Explosions and similar stuff can generate sound waves we can’t actually hear, but they still would hit our ears. Also, an exlposion creates quite shockwave, which could damage the ear as well…

This is seriously weird. Can’t find any evidence that military cargo trucks and the other variants of APC spawn anywhere. Even in the mapgen folder, only military vehicles that show up are humvees in a certain Fun area.

I’m…pretty sure I saw some of them though, on streets? Maybe they are grouped in with all the other normal vehicles in some kind of list and you didn’t see them?

Doh. Found it on the list, yeah. Military trucks and most APC/IFV variants aren’t though, just the standard APC.

It’s a “chemical vapor deposition machine”. It works IRL by basically vaporizing some material we normally think of solid (such as carbon) and then condensing it onto a seed crystal. It’s one of the main ways of making artificial diamonds as well as a handful of other crystalline materials (and the diamond route is the main use in C:DDA, as you pointed out).
