Stuff.Of course, the best option is to just get a shotgun or a heavy pistol and shoot it.
Fell into a sinkhole at a swamp
Surrounded by solid rock, anybody know if there’s anything I can do?

Unfortunately nothing outside cheating. If you don’t mind that, open the debug menu and teleport yourself (using long teleport - short teleport will kill you) above the ground. You need to bind debug menu in options first, if you haven’t done so.
Sinkholes are somewhat of a relict - they’re pure bullshit instakill. They may get some use when we get z-levels, but at the moment they don’t add anything good to the game.
Thanks, I went and spent a day making a long rope just in case it happens again so I won’t feel so scummy about it.
Now I seem to have an issue with warmth and gear. I have a reinforced keffiyeh worn on the mouth that has +30 warmth on it. When I originally made it, it kept me warm but at some unnoticed point it stopped working. It’s dark green on the gear page (I don’t know if this is relevant) and no matter how I order my gear it doesn’t seem to work. (I might not fully understand how ordering works, kinda new)

Been a tiny little while since I last played Cataclysm, but I’m pretty sure dark green is reinforced.
Been any season changes? Are you by any chance exploring a lab? Some labs are pretty cold, being stuck in the rain makes you cold too.

Thanks for the reply but neither of those apply, I think I just don’t understand how gear layering works. For example, I made a national guard character and unpacked he go-bag but no matter how I ordered my clothing around I had 3+2 encumberment on my torso. I really don’t understand how the extra +2 is calculated.
The initial 3 is the encumbrance of the items themselves, the +2 is due to having too many items in one layer. So three t-shirts would be a +# but not a normal number. It may help looking at the wiki page for it.
Ordering doesn’t matter, layers do.

Ordering doesn’t affect warmth either. At the moment, it only affects the order in which armor is processed - starts at the last item on the list (lowest one) and goes up.
Cotton items don’t help a lot against wind, especially if they also have low coverage. If you’re only cold when outside buildings, it may be wind.
Quick question, currently I have a RV that has all six wheels fitted with 20" armored wheels that were taken off a military cargo truck. I was at a mall and found a fully working Humvee, in short I took the four 36" wheels of the Humvee and plan on putting them on the RV. So regardless where I put the bigger wheels in any place on my RV, will it screw up the suspension or something because I have smaller wheels already on the RV?
No.
Wheels are quite simple at the moment - as long as you have 2 functional wheels that support the rough center of weight of the vehicle, the only thing that really matters is total wheel area. Optimal wheel area depends on vehicle weight, but is quite low - your vehicle would probably be faster with 2 or 3 of those wheels than with 6 of them.
What’s a good source of plastic chunks now? Apparently vehicle wheels cannot be disassembled any more and removing a broken one from a vehicle doesn’t yield any plastic.
bets way would be do cut up empty gallon jugs or blastic “clothing” you get from zombies and for example in labs. Also dismantling consoles yield plastic of which you find a lot in labs.
edit:
i forgot adding car batteries. if you dissasemble one though you should bring 2 big liquid containers like galon jugs because you also get clear water and concentrated acid.(which means you can safely drink a part of a car batterie yay)
I kind of don’t agree with the “pure bullshit” part. IMO, instakills are a part of rogue-likes, and as long as the player has an easily acquired way to effectively avoid them they’re just a part of the myriad of things you have to avoid doing. For sinkholes this means to avoid swamps(I’m under the impression that Per 10 allows you to always see sinkholes).
You can avoid dieing from sinkholes even if you do fall into them. I found it a fun way to die anyway
That would also mean that minefields are pure bullshit instakills as well. Under certain circumstances they very well may be able to oneshot you. And they are harder to avoid thus more bullshit? Just like under certain circumstances you may fall into a sinkhole… however if your aware of your surroundings its easy to avoid by not running blindly through a swamp.
actualy minefields are easy to spot, mould of dirt somewhere? its a minefield!
thats not universaly true.
There are mines that have no indication whatsoever short of spotting them by beeing skilled or having enough perception.
random dirt on road is minefield too
Yes again.
There are mines out on the field that look perfectly normal like fields. ya know grass and dirt evenly distributed while there may be a mine in a dirt ot grass tile which is indistinguishable to a normal tile if you do not spot the mine by skill and or stats.
hi, is there a way to store a shopping cart into a vehicle?
I wish there was but to the best of my knowledge only way to do so would be dismantling it and then putting it back together. We should get ramps on our vehicles so we can drag small, drag able only vehicles into our mobile bases. That would be awesome.
