Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!
Semi related question about the speed stat. Does it also influence other actions aside movements and attacks?
For example reading books, repair clothing, crafting something, or build something with the construction menu - let’s say that every action takes one minute each, but I am wearing too much stuff and receive speed penalties due to warmness.
Does it take always a minute to clear those actions?
Yes, it actually does.
Most long actions operate on moves left. Your moves are incremented by your speed at the start of the turn.
Too much worn stuff won’t impair it (I think), but warmth decreasing speed will.

Note to self: Quick characters read faster, craft faster, build faster, etc. Do they also sleep faster?

After a single fish caught, all fish mobs disappeared from sight on the entire map and trying to fish says there’s no fish nearby. Is fishing time- or season-based, and do fish respawn?

EDIT: Mousing-over accidentally revealed corpses of fish all over the river. I suspect monster infighting is the issue.

Wait wait wait, there’s a way to fish besides “Step into water edge, shoot the mutant fish that try to attack you”?

Make a fishing rod or find a pro one. Stand for a long time fishing for a measly chance to get a fish, get manhoodblocked out of fish by a bug.

Make a fish trap, reload it with bait, set it in water, collect fish after a while.

Build speargun and ammo, strip down to skivvies and a runner pack or something, dive into river, shoot fish (including lots of non-mutated fish).

EDIT: Forgot swim goggles. Never forget swim goggles.

Just like in real life dynamite is the answer.

It’s always the answer…

Bulls-eye Rhodri. And far as I know yes, the other ones are pretty much paperweights.

Now fault-lines, that’s the money melon right there!

Assuming you do end up unlocking it though…bring a rebreather and a jackhammer…

Or CBMs and enough battery. The Thermal Resistance, Tunneling/Sonic Resonator will get you through alright.

Where can I find laser turrets? I wish to repurpose their LAZERZ to be welded onto my vehicle. They are the only thing keeping the SNV from being complete!

Does wearing a Power armor helmet Mk I and a Power armor suit Mk II (or vice versa) still fully protect the player from radiation?

Unless Environmental Protection score takes care of it at 10+, not even a full power armor will protect you from radiation - it doesn’t have either RAD_RESIST or RAD_PROOF tags which are responsible for it. To get the resistance or immunity, you need cleansuit, hazmat (or their derivatives) or RM13 Combat Armor.

I haven’t played in a while, and I’ve got a few questions about the new content:

The bars on gun store windows (and others?)–is there any way to cut through this without explosives? I tried using a hacksaw and got nothing.

Burn damage. Once an item is “burned,” is there any way to repair that?

There are other things you can do to get in. You can try picking the lock on the door, for instance. You could also go around back and see if there’s a back door made of wood which can be pried. The door is metal and the windows are barred with metal, but the walls are just ordinary walls, and you can smash them down with a homewrecker or sledgehammer. You could even use an acetylene torch to cut through the metal doors if you really need to resort to that.

I have a question, Should my character use a steak knife or fists? He knows krav maga and has a two in unarmed and a one in cutting weapons, Sadly he has only 3 flashlights however.

Fists. Steak knives make for garbage weapons.

Thank you for the advice. I see a Zombie Brute outside of the Evac Shelter, What should I do? I’ve boarded the windows but it’s attempting to break the doors, I can’t run because of nearby skeleton dogs and the spike pits I put all around my shelter.

Well, shit, now you’re up a crick. Hmm. Smash a bench and use a two-by to cross pits. Fight the skeleton dogs before the brute if you have to; they die quick to bashing attacks (your fists count). If you have any stimulants in your inventory (caffeine pills, Adderall, cocaine, meth, that kind of thing), now’s the time.

Drop items until your encumbrance is 0. Fight him unarmed since you have 2 points there already. Make him stand in a spike pit while you pound away at him.
