Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

So I know that leveling marksmanship and the related gun skill wont work with unprecise weapons. I am talking about my trusty blunderbuss. It doesn’t need any aiming because the steadiness is always at max when there’s no recoil. But after shooting with it for a while it occurs that neither shotgun nor marksmanship improved even a single %. Will training with my mossberg improve my performance of the blunderbuss?

Aslo a small proposal: homemade guns should only need a soldering iron to repair  It says it degrades quickly but how was I able to make it that ‘accurate’ then in the first place?

I spawned right next to an office tower and found several working vehicles in the underground garage. The only problem is I can’t figure out how to drive them to the surface. Is there a terminal I need to find to open a garage door? What am I missing?

You can’t get them to the surface. vehicles don’t move between Z-levels yet (assuming they ever will) unless the vehicle can be folded and you do so to carry it between Z-levels.

You can definitely harvest them for gas and parts, though–they should be a great source of those. If the gas tanks are full/mostly full, that’s a lot of gas.

If you want to improve marksmanship without wasting much ammo: Use a pneumatic bolt driver, it trains marksmanship and rifles (I think up to 10 or so, but the rifle part isn’t needed for you…).
And yeah I would love beeing able to repair guns that we made ourselfs with a soldering iron, unless you have integrated higher class materials. You should at least be able to repair weapons that you made with “low-tech” materials (made with pipe, 2x4s and some others.) like flintlockpistol, blundebuss etc. with a soldering iron.

On that note: How fast do “railguns” degrade? The rails of them should be nearly useless after 4-5 shots, unless they are made from special materials. So you would have to replace the rail rather than reloading the weapon if you use “normal” materials.

Thanks. I figured as much but thought I’d ask since it was possible I was just missing something.

There is actually a vehicle right outside my shelter and right in front of the office tower that is in working order that simply needs gas. There are several vehicles below that are filled with gas so I’ll go that route.

A little secret: you don’t necessarily even need a rubber hose and jerrycan or whatever. If you’ve got the tools, you can actually just rip the gas tank out entirely and haul it outside by hand, and refill the vehicle directly from the carried gas tank you’re wielding. (At least, in the experimental versions I’m playing. I don’t know if this is true in the stable version or not.)

YOu can do hat also in the stable version, but never forget that you should move fast if the tank is damaged, they’ll loose their stuff overtime if damaged.

The toolbox is an excellent method of repairing power armor, it only takes 25 ducttape, at least for light power armor

Do multiple martial arts styles stack?

Nope! You can switch to any you know but it’s strictly one or another. I actually posted a suggestion to address this recently…

It seems they stack. I’m using tiger, (no arm/leg blocks), but i’m still doing arm/leg blocks in combat, are they from the brawling style?

Do the size of your wheels affect the speed of your acceleration?

Yes, but not directly.

Acceleration depends on your car’s mass and dynamics coefficients. Mass coefficient increases with wheel area (good), but dynamics decrease with it (bad).
A good balance depends on how heavy is your car - the heavier it is, the more wheels it should have. Cargo weight counts too.

I just discovered that you can 'U’nload a majority of foods (e.g. dried rice, toast-ems, raw pasta, salt, pepper, protein powder) and dump them into your inventory or vehicle cargo. This saves a lot of inventory space, especially in the case of THOSE BLASTED, BULKY CARDBOARD BOXES, and cleans up the UI marginally by increasing readability and stacking some items (just ‘x salt’ instead of ‘x cardboard boxes of salt (y)’).

Watch someone fix this (being able to dump powder on the floor and retrieve all of it) within the week. :frowning:

If you think the woods are a good place to hide, you are wrong… To me, they scare the living shit out of me, because I have ZERO visibility.

What are good ways to obtain rubber hoses?

Breaking/disassembling fridges. Regular or glass fridges should work.

I wouldn’t mind this being fixed. It drives me kind of batty that I can’t put non-liquid loose piles (like herbs, salt, sugar, etc.) into a bottle or bag or something.

By how much does a minifridge slow down the rotting process?

I think it reduces spoilage speed to 20% of its rate at 65F (the game’s baseline) or something like that.
