Yeah, I have a mop in my safehouse for that very reason. And it’s not much of an investment, it’s a very common find in houses.
Found out you could scroll CBM’s by pressing the down key.
Stupidity at it’s finest.
EDIT I may have asked before, but I don’t remember, what is the most powerful sleeping aid?

When I’m testing things and need to sleep a char, I opt for a vibrator: 1:1 morale/fatigue gain, no side effects. But since I made 'em, I may be biased.

You mean the whole screen or does a selector appear?

Is there a way to take them apart or disassemble them. I’ve got like 7 and just want to get rid of them. Also, what’s the best way to get rid of trash? Some stuff just doesn’t burn.
Drive them over with a wheeled vehicle or drop them into acid.
Or if you don’t mind cheating (using debug menu), spawn a shoggoth over them, let it take a single turn, then despawn it.

Or be lazy and just spawn an acid bomb and trow it onto the tiles(note that those create a 9 tile pool of acid).
Or be lazier and use the shoggoth, because it’s faster (less keypresses).
So I looked at my history out of curiousity.
I apparently became addicted to mutagen on day 3, but I haven’t seen or noticed anything in my gameplay with regards to it. I have also became addicted to alcohol, but again, still not seeing anything about wanting a drink or anything. I thought addictions caused problems?

I don’t know about powerful, but I keep a couple of three-litre jars of Nyquil cough syrup on my bedside table for those moments I get the ‘you feel well-rested’ message and my watch reads 1 a.m. and I’m like nope.
No NPC problem can’t be solved by a shotgun or .45 delivered point blank.
Worried about morale penalties? Threaten them, fail, and then shoot them. After you have a .45, shotgun, or SMG NPCs become walking loot pinatas.

EDIT I may have asked before, but I don’t remember, what is the most powerful sleeping aid?[/quote]Ambien is only slightly more powerful than cough syrup, which is a lot more powerful than poppy cough syrup. Poppy sleep, I’m not sure on. Thorazine’s sedative effect can reduce an entire cup of atomic coffee, so it’s probably the best anti-stimulant if you ever find yourself awake for 5 days straight.
With the experimental Z levels mod, can you also build on different Z levels or only explore pre-generated buildings?
So, uh, the evac shelter I was going to move to turns out to have a portal five map tiles away–far enough for me to miss while initially checking the place out, but close enough to make me worry. Do portals continue to spawn nether inhabitants, or do they only spawn nether inhabitants when first entering the reality bubble?
With dynamic spawn it’s kind of a pointless question. But I believe that static spawn only enforces that onto zombies so, yeah probably will continue to spawn nether inhabitants. Though I am not certain. If you are up for it why not create a back-up of your save(so you can revert at the end of the test and don’t have to worry about your characters well-being during it), clean the portal area out and find out if more gets spawned?
I cleaned out the portal area of rubble, krecks, and an amoebic mould, and I’m now in the process of building a wooden wall around the portal. We’ll see if it’s at all necessary/does any good.
Update: nothing spawned while the wall was going up, including during the time it took to chop down a tree and get other materials and tools on-site. It’s now fully enclosed in eight squares of wood wall.
I never seen portals spawn additional critters.
I have.
But it took quite a while before random nether creatures crawls out of the portal. Granted these happened while I was busy digging spiked pits around them.
In the end, the portal I found was surrounded by an inner ring of caltrops, two outer ring of spiked pits, and twelve 9mm turrets. The next nether spawn from the portal barely survived one turn away from the portal.

In that case, perhaps I set up shop too soon. I already have facilities built and am partly unpacked. Should I move, or just maybe add a ring of spiked pits around the wooden wall or something? (I’m a pretty high-level archer with a reflex recurve bow and metal arrows, so there’s a fair chance I could take whatever comes out even if it got through the wooden wall. Though if I’m lucky it’ll just be a kreck and it’ll be stuck on the portal tile and prevent anything else from spawning.

That’s only if your plan to stay near it for the long term. Nothing will move if it leaves your reality bubble. Initially, I’d planned to surround my portal with blade traps and stone walls, but I discovered that more than a few types of nether creatures can fly or otherwise too nimble to be damaged much by the blade traps. Not to mention that flaming eyes can just demolish walls.
In the end, I use my current setup; caltrops to wound, spiked pits to wound and hinder their movements, and turrets to take them down.
