Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Thanks, I didn’t realize the surrounding tiles needed roofing as well. It looks like quarterpanels do count as a proper surrounding tile, too!

Good to know.

I as running to a garage in hope of snatching some controls for an ambulace that was filled with shit and…
A fucking skeleton ran up to me and literally anihilated my ass. It killed me in like 5 turns, making me bleed and giving me nasty bites every turn. I tried to hit it with a wood axe but it did literally nothing, I missed every time (with little encumberance) and I couldnt outrun it.
I am playing with “slow zombies” mod (yes I’m a fucking shitter) and yet the skeleton literally ran x1.5 faster than me. When I looked at the wiki, it says it’s “slightly slower than you”.
what the fuck.
Were you injured? Carrying too much stuff? Wearing too much stuff? One annoying thing that can happen is an attack can destroy some of your clothing which can lower your maximum volume, which can in turn heavily encumber you, and it can be very easy to miss.
as I said before, I was carrying very little stuff (a flashlight, a crossbow and 13 wooden bows, and wielding a wood axe) and wearing little shit too
I dont see how a skeleton could be so fucking fast
When I play with ‘Normal zombie’ ‘no joke monster’, ‘slow zombies’ and ‘prevent zombie revival’ mod on, skeletons still outrun me, just like dog characters.

also like dog characters their remains are shown in yellow (as if for a zombie that can revive) so I butcher them just to be sure.

so skeletons are one breed that needs to be fought. but they give plenty of bones. mmm gruel from skeleton bones. and bone needles too.

wonder if i could ever craft a coffee mug from their skull. now that would be awesome

Where do you get the recipe for elf-a mutagen and serum?

What are you talking about, my learned colleague? There is no such thing as elA;OWirhawefba

We had to hide after the crackdown. We told all our colleagues and saw to it the formula was written in many places, yet boring places, books in which THEY would never think to look. But not all of them! NOBODY DROPS MAIAR INTO LAVA

ae;bana;uvianatter, what exactly is your security clearance? I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before…

The “standpipe maintenance logs” are sometimes just that, and sometimes have the formula written down. Since it’s bereft of the usual explanatory material, not an easy thing to learn.

And we really need a way to make sure there’s only one instance of a given map per game, in part so we can put in the lab where elf-a was developed. Lore is that it was never properly tested thanks to being rushed, and when the first human results had disastrous side effects, the lead was terminated and the research buried. Loyal research team got it out though, and kept the spirit going.

Any way to change a character’s name in a save game?

something i mostly do on a normal start is get a rock smash a locker and make a makeshift crowbar. have night vision and lightstep go around the town not into the town scout and @ night time raid some inportent stuff like clothing wheelbarrow/shoppingcard guns ammo better mellee wep. and maybe start of with the tailor profession you can make and reinforce clthing like threchcoat and a hoodie still gives you 0 torso.

sorry for the very bad english hopes it helps

I’ve got a question. Why are there so many eye-bots and how do i get rid of the mall without them summoning police bots + riot bots that ignore all the zombies and only kill you?

Kill them from afar with a silent weapon. This way, you can kill them without attracting more eyebots or police/ riot bots.

Although, it’s easy to deal with police/riot bots once you get the Dielectric Capacitance bionic and a gas mask.

Try throwing some rocks or other random objects at them, or archery. Both are good choices that will dispatch of them silently and without calling in more things to fight.

Another question. If you use a baseball bat on a shocker zombie/brute, will you get shocked back?

Wood isn’t conductive, so you shouldn’t be shocked. Aluminum bats may get you shocked, though.

Oh, so it’s just that skeletons aren’t included in the slow zombies mod. Skeletons and many zombie animals do revive with no rez mod.

This is because no rez and slow zombies use a rather hacky method of determining what is a zombie: they search for “mon_zombie” in monster’s id. Since skeletons and some other monsters (for example zombear - “mon_zombear”) do not have “mon_zombie” in name, those mods don’t affect them.

I am about to start crackin’ some safes, and I need an electrohack and a stethoscope.
I just need the right book to craft the former but I don’t know where to acquire the latter. My guess would be at a doctor’s office, but I never found it there. (to be accurate, I never opened the reinforced doors. Is it inside there?)

Okay, now my brother wants to know how long it takes tanning hides to tan into tanned hides. How long?

Those are in hospitals only. In my current world, I never entered any hospital, instead I bought one from an NPC.

I’m pretty sure they’re a rare spawn in doctors’ offices too. :-/

Real survivors crack safes… with their FACES!

Also, that explains why the 10 or so doctors offices I’ve checked haven’t had any stethoscopes.

Also Also, can you break a safe to get the stuff in it?

You can indeed! I pipe bombed a safe once, and the contents marvellously spilled out on the floor undamaged. Even better, they were CBM’S 8D
