Tips, Tricks and Newb Questions: Reborn!

Do you mean “more accurate than other sights” or “more accurate than a rifle without sights”? Because if it’s the former, then it seems the only thing sights do is increase aim speed in exchange for aim accuracy, right?
And if the latter is true, then, uh… is there a parameter we could find somewhere in-game to compare which sight would be better/worse in that regard? Because all I could see is 2 zeros.

I have a question. How in the world does taking photos now work? It seems all over the place. I know its not the most loved feature, but I always found documenting the horrors of the cataclysm a good thing for roleplay.

The same as always, with a camera with charges, you use the action button (default a) select the camera put the crosshair on the zombie/mob and press enter (the quality of the photo depends on how far you where from the zombie), then you can select the camera again and select to view your photos or shoot another one.

Doesnt matter, the rifle scope is the best sight (except for the speed), i always thought those values were a typo, since as you have mentioned other have values, and supposedly for things like are a good thing (like aim speed speed, accuracy, etc) if the have a + sign is good, and bad things (like recoil, dispersion, etc) if they have a + sign is bad.

I thought negative dispersion was good? Since a lower dispersion means your shot is less likely to careen off to the side.

exactly if a mod has a value of +30 is bad, if it has a value of -30 is good

Ah. I reread your post. I misread it before and thought you were saying minuses are a blanket negative. My bad.

But if that’s the case - i.e. scopes don’t have any other hidden bonus - then rifle scope is… useless. Because it doesn’t add anything to the weapon (except weight, so it’s actually bad, haha). And the only use for scopes is to slap them on something you need fast aim with and do not care about accuracy. Or, in other words, shotguns. Which I find rather strange and probably wrong, but then where can I see that magical hidden bonus to whatever weapon stat scopes provide?

Also, to not spam additional posts: what are the biggest, volume-wise, constructable containers? Looked in furniture-storage.json, and it seems bookcase and dresser are the best, both with 2 cubic meters. Except of some modding bag of holding shenanigans, am I missing something with even more space?

I have some questions about NPCs and turrets and stuff
How do I get them to follow me when they get into combat if I want them to run? I have them set to stick close to me and not engage enemies but once they get into combat they won’t move away.
They also seem to be shouting about seeing enemies on other Z levels… is this because I have 3D vision turned on?
It seems like turrets are shooting at things through walls if they’re both on a Z level I’m not on is this just a thing?
It also seems like turrets are only shooting at me when once they see me and ignoring zombies and stuff even if I’m past the doorway and a zombie is in the doorway is this just how they act now?
And is there some way to turn off the sound danger notifications? I’m tired of hearing something like “you hear kaboom do you want stop eating” every time I eat or drink anything in a lab.

Well, I’m new to this game myself but I’ll answer what I know.

They also seem to be shouting about seeing enemies on other Z levels… is this because I have 3D vision turned on?

Probably yes. It says it is currently very bugged so you probably shouldn’t use it.

It seems like turrets are shooting at things through walls if they’re both on a Z level I’m not on is this just a thing?

See above, most probably one of the bugs with 3D vision.

It also seems like turrets are only shooting at me when once they see me and ignoring zombies and stuff even if I’m past the doorway and a zombie is in the doorway is this just how they act now?

Maybe. Or maybe their bullet shoot through the zombie and into you. They use quite powerful rounds and shoot lots of them in each salvo.

And is there some way to turn off the sound danger notifications? I’m tired of hearing something like “you hear kaboom do you want stop eating” every time I eat or drink anything in a lab.

Sadly, except using earplugs, noise-cancelling headgear or Enhanced Hearing CBM which comes with sound dampening ability, no.

Re the turrets not shooting at zombies, I’ll be standing at the wall north of the doorway into a turret room with a zombie one south in the doorway leading into the turret room (I play lab a lot) and either it won’t shoot or it’ll shoot at the wall it can’t penetrate.
I’ll try playing without 3D vision and see if that fixes the turrets on other levels. My experience has been that 3D vision is super broken but its working better than it used to.

I didn’t play lab start yet, but when I did raid some labs turrets only shot at me if I was stupid enough to stay in their LoS. They never ever tried to shoot me through a wall, that’s some strange sh :mask:t going on.

Oh!, normal bees, lets just walk trough them was the worst it can happen?, five minutes later with the “stung” effect, got a total of 1k pain…

Is it possible to change the color from the names on the overmap? the color blue is barely readable.

If the zombies are guards, scientists, or other original staff, the turrets won’t shoot them at all, unless that’s been changed

The winged guys look sufficiently tough to pulp those Nether assholes while you’re running away.

all of them are “mine” they are from a summoning item from the arcana mod, so they are friendly, luckly the bees were reverted on some builds ago

I, too, had this exact question. Default “dark” blue is unreadable to me, may as well be black.
Solution: open config/base_colors.json and change all dem colors! I’m currently running this:

[
{
“type”: “colordef”,
“BLACK”: [ 0, 0, 0 ],
“RED”: [ 255, 0, 0 ],
“GREEN”: [ 0, 110, 0 ],
“BROWN”: [ 120, 70, 35 ],
“BLUE”: [ 0, 60, 230 ],
“MAGENTA”: [ 139, 58, 98 ],
“CYAN”: [ 0, 150, 180 ],
“GRAY”: [ 150, 150, 150 ],
“DGRAY”: [ 99, 99, 99 ],
“LRED”: [ 255, 150, 150 ],
“LGREEN”: [ 0, 255, 0 ],
“YELLOW”: [ 255, 255, 0 ],
“LBLUE”: [ 100, 100, 255 ],
“LMAGENTA”: [ 254, 0, 254 ],
“LCYAN”: [ 0, 240, 255 ],
“WHITE”: [ 255, 255, 255 ]
}

Question: what’s the deal with mutant meat? It says it is “unappetizing in a way that that can’t be covered up by most cooking”. Okay, let’s see what we can actually make with it… whoa, dozens of recipes, and strangely enough only plain cooked chunk of mutant meat have morale penalty because it is made of mutant meat. Cat/dog food and raw sausage have it too but, like rest of meat-related recipes, they seem to not care at all if you’re using regular meat or mutant meat. Am I missing something? Does it have very weak mutagenic properties, perhaps? I know tainted meat does but it’s another type of meat which cannot be used in regular food recipes.

Mutant meats has toxins in it that will persist through cooking
So you can make your mutant meat pizza, but it will have negative effects.

You can also adjust colors by going to Main Menu>Settings>Color and adjust whichever colors are causing trouble.
