Tips, Tricks and Newb Questions: Reborn!

Mutations are random, but they don’t use bionic energy (they do use some nutrition though). With enough knowledge, you can craft your own. Bionics need power, but you know exactly what you are getting. Basic install of the game also requires certain things to get CBMs in you, where as you can just drink/inject a mutagen

You can use both, but if I find a bunch of CBMs and I can install them, I’d rather go that route.

What does a cracked robot mean? It said something along the lines of “ominous green glow” and I can’t really understand why, and after butchering the robot, it now says defused…

"Ominous green glow” means that the item is radioactive and leaking radiation. It seems you damaged a robot so much that its corpse spawned damaged (like what happens to zombies that get hit by the power of Niten-Ichi Ryu), likely damaging its nuclear reactor in the process. Which in turn irradiates everything nearby. Butchering the robot removed the old “broken robot” and gave you a “defused robot” with a few other parts.

Nice, good to know, I was using a fusion blaster from the aftershock and managed a direct hit on a skitterbot, kinda bad I guess, because it took a better part of a day to haul the damaged bot and the security bots along with it…

I’ll try to remember this in latter finale rooms.

Do mufflers reduce noise for electric motors? It seems like they shouldn’t, right?

They don’t make sound so mufflers should give it negative sound making it repel zombos :0

I don’t believe they do, but they already make less sound than a muffled gasoline motor.

They don’t make sound naturally, only if you crash them and the sound with come from the damage not the engine itself

Alright, another question about robots again, just learned to start using those really cool EMP grenades in labs rn, and just fried some security bots, but one managed to survive the blast and it currently says “Friendly”. Can I trust the robot? Or will this effect eventually run out and it’ll gun me down asap?

Definitely do not trust that. The only thing that will give you friendly robots or turrets is either hacking them with a control laptop or activating them yourself. My guess is the EMP scrambled its brains for a second, but it’ll kill you dead the moment it remembers its IFF.

Yeah, luckily I walked away from it when I went back down it went hostile again, don’t worry managed to kill it too.

Lucky me

Are vehicles found in labs able to reach the surface in one piece? It would suck to have to take apart an atomic sports car or bubble car just to drive it.

BTW what are bubble cars even? Are they similar to those one-seater volkswagens that you enter through a door in the back?

Also, a tip for those new to electronic weapons, don’t make a pulse rifle from your primary weapon, it’s basically an HMG. Meaning you have to be on uneven terrain just tk fire it. Damn, already miss my A7 too…

Not that I’ve been able to find. Far as I can tell, they’re basically just a free minireactor at this stage. No idea if they’re working on a way to make some kind of vehicle elevator to raise the vehicle in the testing range to the surface, although that would be dope as shit.

Wow, I made the pulse rifle out of my A7, complained about how inferior the pulse rifle was, and found another a7 in a weapons testing range…

Maybe I should learn how to not complain…

Two questions about security bots :

  • Do EMP have a random chance to make them friendly ? And if so do they stay friendly ?

  • What do you do with inactive security bot ? Will they follow if I reactivate them or just roam around ?

They don’t stay friendly, best to end them while you have the chance. Reactivated ones (if you don’t botch it) will be friendly to you if it’s like hacked ones but just do their usual thing, I had a bit of fun with a control labtop and a prison once, hacked all the surviving bots but all they did was wander around shooting zombies and ants(there was a anthill nearby) you can iirc deactive them again though and take them somewhere else to set them loose.

Alright, thanks !
So they’re not that usefull

I imagine set loose in the right place they could be great, I mean, imagine the carnage in say… a mall? but if I’m honest I don’t trust anything in the game with a gun apart from me :stuck_out_tongue: so I haven’t experimented all that much.

I really want to find a copy of Robots for Fun and Profit. There’s a chicken walker to the northwest with my name on it. Tell me THAT wouldn’t be useful.

Be careful, chicken walkers have a unique anti-hacking system that sooner or later detects it and reboots them. It will probably last long enough to lock them in a room somewhere, but I wouldn’t rely on it.
Besides, they have a propensity for killing themselves with their grenade launchers, so you probably don’t want them “helping” you anyway.
