Sleeping is almost real-time

Great!

Awesome!

Excellent, and thank you. I can start sleeping in my base again!

Edit: Nope. It’s actually worse now than it was before. It takes 3x-5x longer than before, and now I’m also getting significant lag with movement that I didn’t have before. Here’s my savefile if you want to try it for yourself. http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=32206271585723660213

Worse here too. Turning item spawn up to 10 and going near a mall now results in freezing and crashing rather than just slowdown.

I didn’t keep up on experimental builds between 0.A and 0.B, what change introduced this problem?

Confirming both speedup and slowdown.

10 item spawn in the city doesn’t slow down the game noticeably.

Fails the “Mall test” rather hard, though. My old save with a mid-sized cargo carrier vehicle full of stuff also seemed slower.

I somehow managed to crash the game twice just walking around the city with 10 item spawn.

Maybe as an easy stopgap someone could write up some stacked versions of various commonly stored items: bundles of scrap metal (not intrinsically the same as lumps, sheets, etc), plastic chunks, rags, leather, felt, etc. They’d have the same weight and volume as the unstacked versions. Perhaps add string or other items as requirement ala the bundle of plastic bags.

As an aside: I don’t say it often enough, Kevin, but you and the rest of the developers here put in a lot of great work. Your experience shows with regards to the way you conduct your development agenda. I really appreciate it. I’ve had lots of hours of fun playing Cataclysm:DDA. Thanks again!

Perhaps for vehicle destruction, does rubble hold active items? It seems like it would be appropriate for exploding vehicles to litter metal rubble where lumps and acraps of steel fall, said rubble containing whatever non active objects fell in.
Chances are i am misunderstanding, though.

Active item == an item with a timer attached (grenade, can rot, lit kiln, etc). I’m pretty confident that smashing vehicles wouldn’t of itself generate anything timed. Points for creative thinking though.

Not until you implement rust/corrosion system anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Not until you implement rust/corrosion system anyway :P[/quote]Acid spitters (and acid rain if it comes back) does that job well enough, methinks.
