Replacing/disabling vanilla recipes in mods

We are able to replace items by using the same id in mods but trying to do the same with recipes will result in an error message.

It would be useful if we could replace/disable recipes to allow some mods to be partial or total conversions, for instance. Or just for small changes to vanilla recipes, like adding glass shards as another option for field point arrows or renaming Glass Shivs to just Shivs and adding other options like scrap metal and wood in the recipes.

I still think this would allow ppl to make better mods. No opinions at all? :frowning:

It’s a no-brainer, you should be able to override vanilla recipes using a mod.

Sounds like a bug in a way. So made an issue out of it: https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/issues/6881

I’m not sure how the mod handling works exactly, but it would be nice to be able to say “disable this ID entirely” “replace this ID with the one here” or “modify this ID with what is here” maybe use a simple + / - system for modification.

I really hope that helps. It’s a step closer to total conversion mods. :3
