There have been recent advances in map generation that bring this dream closer to reality. Map sections created for specific geometries, like corners and t-intersections, can now rotate to fit into a large complex the way they should. Sunshine’s concept for labs still needs the hard-code to be rewritten to use that feature. More than that it needs paths laid out with rooms along the sides. I’d say that between the existence of these maps and the changes to map generation the bulk of the work to make this happen has been done.
