Not sure if I’m doing this right. I just noticed the in-game turrets have shadows. I mean, I just copypaste the images from the tileset into Paint and do my thing. Then copypaste the edited image into Irfanview and save as PNG. Super primitive, I know. Should I save black as transparent color? I barely know what I’m doing… And even that might be a stretch

Meep. Is fine. Usually I find GIMP to be infinitely easier, though it still has its oddities and annoyances. So if I do use it, just would have to delete the background at it should work.
Just hoping it won’t have Paint’s glorious halo of ever-so-slightly different shades of black preventing me from removing it all at once, but oh well. o3o
Ah, I see. Let’s see…for the tile_config it’s just a straightforward list, so don’t forget how far along you are and it won’t cause problems.
For editing the tileset file itself, you want to keep track of the grid that defines what sections are perceived as a sprite or tile. If your image editor has a grid feature, easy enough to turn it on, and set the spacing as equal to the tileset’s sprite size, like 24x24 or 32x32. Then make sure it’s aligned right, as GIMP has occasionally derped that up when I switch from 24 to 32.
Well, due to…things, I am no longer a contributor to Cataclysm DDA. I’m still not sure yet if I’ll even continue being on here, after drama from multiple people, including and especially myself. But if I do, that leaves one piece of unfinished business.
More Survival Tools has every idea I thought up that was worth adding. Tank mod is effectively complete until Blaze starts deciding to PR stuff again. Medieval Stuff has been finished up at long last. Arcana mod is effectively fleshed out as I intended.
The MShock Modded tileset was effectively the only continuous, long-term part of the game I considered myself responsible for. I’m going to need to find someone to take up work on it instead.
Alternatively…I could keep spriting. I could offer updates to someone if they’re willing to submit it in my stead, but I don’t know if that will be acceptable. If Kevin objects to that, then so be it.
1. Please don’t go.
2. What is all this about? I haven’t seen anything. Could you fill me in?
3. DAMMIT NOT AGAIN
Wow, I mean, your code had problems, but Kevin and co. were incredibly hostile for no reason. Is he always like that? When I’ve submitted things in the past I always got Rivet, and she was civil.
Why do we always have to disagree? Can’t we be friends?

But that was just an ordinary conversation… No anger or insults or anything… What shitty attitude is Kevin talking about? I see nothing, I have seen nothing. You’re a nice person.

No, he is not ‘always like that’. It took a long while to get to the point of the ‘final straw’. If you know the adage about the ‘straw that broke the camels back’, you know that final straw doesn’t have to be a big one to finally overwhelm the camel, it just has to be enough.
I like you Random_Dragon. You’re a fixture here on the boards and I personally found your antics on github amusing, but I didn’t have to work with you. I hope you stay around and keep contributing. Your work will stand on it’s own merits and the good stuff always makes it into the game eventually. Look at what’s happening with Medieval Stuff right now. There’s more freedom here on the boards, no need to push anything through a committee.
