More mundane sorts of mission suggestions

Okay, so I was playing Elona, and it made me think of more missions for this game. Something that’s kinda more on the line of the outpost missions, but less fetch quests.

Like, say… escorting a group of scavengers to one area, or hunting down a group of bandits… or a horde of zombies. Maybe guarding one point from a coming horde, etc. Rewards could be cash or a pick of random items, and a sort of increased rep with the faction who’s giving the mission.

And maybe, the completion of some of the early missions for NPCs (such as the cult quest line) could be a prereq for a string of more missions.

I really like the defend against a coming horde one. Maybe a series of these in different locations, each horde getting stronger with the end result being a restoration of a major piece of infrastructure.

Have some blue-collar quests where you help repair fortifications, or cleaning up dead bodies and trash.

Deliveries with time limits could also be good, and possibly annoying.

Escorting is partially in (I’m checking how functional it is right now), hunting down bandits is a thing, but frankly that one should be able to come up several times for a single character.
Another neat thing would be “clear a route between A and B”, that would let you participate in survivors or supplies moving around without having to participate in each and every mission. Infrastructure for that one might be tricky though.

Clear a route between A and B? Let them use roads, because its faster and place a few buildings on said road which have to be cleared, for example Gas stations, motels and maybe a small restaurant or truck stop ; the quest checks if all 4 locations are visited & if hostiles are in said locations. That would at leas simplify it a little bit I guess?

Yea, that’s the simpler option, “clear this route” instead of “clear a route”, and then you can spawn some set-pieces along said route.

How about quests where you seek out survivors for factions, kinda like a recruiter.

I like that a lot better than you going around being so awesome that survivors spontaneously pledge their fealty to you :smiley:
