When i try to use a makeshift funnel when its raining it just asks if i would like to disarm the funnel, if i say no it does nothing, if yes it just turns it into a item on the ground, i have empty bottles in my inv. if your wondering, is this a bug or is it done some different way now?
(a)pply the funnel to place it like you’ve been doing, then (d)rop a water container on the same tile. It takes a while for it to fill up in the rain, so check back every now and again.

Makeshift funnels only have a very small fraction of the effectiveness of regular funnels, so you have to wait a very long time.
