Magical Items and Arcana Skill [No longer merged, hosted on Github]

I tend to agree(especially on the clothing), except that the recharge on this stuff is crazy easy. The only other thing that compares is UPS-powered laser weapons and possibly pneumatic survivor weapons.

By the way, I have found a little issue; look at this:

This glyph change his nameā€¦ :stuck_out_tongue: Is it a bug or a feature?! :wink:

Most likely a small mistake. He copy-pasted parts of the glyphs.
Thing is, the Creator of this mod isnā€™t on this forum anymore. Or, he doesnā€™t visit anymore, due to a conflict with Kevin.
Your best bet is to go to the githhub page and tell the modders over there about the problem, this mod here is merged already, so they can fix those mistakes when necessary. Donā€™t count on it though, they have bigger fish to fry.

Who runs this now?

we briefly talked, and I had in mind making a large cemetery for the purposes of something here, but then RD left.

It seems this thread is pointless now, all changes must be proposed and made in github in the mainline version.

That too, but it seems not many are willing to maintain the version in the thread when fixes could be made to the mainlined one.

I looked through this mod (which is a great one, I think, and Iā€™ve been using it for a while), and I didnā€™t find an item that would do this, so I thought Iā€™d ask - is there an item that would MAP like an artifact? There are several artifact effects being used (costing essence), and one that mapped for even a fairly large essence cost would be REALLY nice.

If there isnā€™t, Iā€™d be happy to make oneā€¦ if someone could tell me what tag to use. The artifact functions donā€™t seem to be documented anywhere.

Edit: OK, THAT was easy - copied Arcana, modified the Gilded Aegis, took away ā€œAEA_HEALā€ and added ā€œAEA_MAPā€, and BAM, it works fine. Not balanced at all, Iā€™d say, but thatā€™s the tag thatā€™s needed.

So you guys are receiving ideas or you all are adding stuff already?

i dont use it,but as a modder i think it is a shame to see a large mod with its own large niche stagnant until it becomes obsoleted

I totally agree that somebody should pick it up. But atm, I already have more than enough things I want to do, and stuff I want to maintain on CDDA. So yeah somebody please halp!

I was using it back when I think the only magic items were things like the hellfire staff and the electric gauntlets.

The Wraithslayer and some of the other stuff sounds tempting.

But Iā€™m using a pretty old version of the game right nowā€¦ I think it was the version just after someone created the new turret frames.

Can I safely update? And is the only way to update the arcana stuff to update the entire game?

Be pretty cool to have infected survivors use magic potions in fights.

The end effect is the same. But yeah, I wasnā€™t here at that time. So my story is wrong. But lets not drag it back up allright?

And quite belatedly, Iā€™ll poke my head on here to response. Honestly, I would be fine if others took care of my mods and the tileset. I donā€™t play the game anymore, I donā€™t poke my head on here often at all.

Did the update to learning recipes and gaining skills from books affect arcana any? Keep in mind it was expected youā€™d read the books to gain skill, because bloody fuck it would be impractical grinding through crafting.

Iā€™ve stopped updating until they get the ridiculous nutrition/vitamins thing worked out, and also, at least for a time, they had broken some of the vehicles mods stuff, so I wouldnā€™t be the best to take this over (plus, I seldom have the time anymore), but I did add something to my copy of the mod:

The Orb of Insight - it takes 13 essence to map the area. It also inflicts triple pain and gives paralysis and ā€œattentionā€. You can also wield it for +4 int/+4 per, but that gives attention and madness (thinking Iā€™ll add the evil disease to that as well, and maybe bump the madness to simply carrying it).

Making it is pretty difficult, but I added it to the loot charts as a rare thing, so you can often get one from clearing one of the special locations.

I mostly use it for mapping the first underground level to map the sewers/subways and know where the basements area.
