There’s a tank drone guarding a vault I want to raid. I’ve hit it with EMP grenades, a LAW, C4, .50 AP, a flamethrower and dynamite. Not a scratch. How do I kill it?
Huh, let’s see. I haven’t fought a tank drone in awhile, so I really wouldn’t know what else to do about them. But the last time I killed one, I had scoped it out well enough, and then used the Cloaking Device powered by the UPS CBM(And about 7,000 bionic points) to get close to it, and then I started laying into it with an A7 Laser rifle on full auto. I got through about 5,000 BP before it was effectively glanced to death.
Control laptop. Get in range, use it, get a new friend. (but need to be lucky to find hackpro usb drive)
I don’t know how relevant this is in the current version, but I believe tank drones are blind at night. I believe this because in an older experimental build (though still on 0.C), I snuck up on a tank drone at night and hacked it to pieces with my sword.
I’ll try to find the components for a control laptop. The area I have to fight it in is well lit and I don’t have anything to cloak.
It’s really worth it, you just need to find the hack (and a laptop but it’s way less rare). You can hack anything with it, behind wall and whatever, so turret in bunker or lab are a joke too with it (just pick a jackhammer to not worry about cards ^^)
Won’t work unless you can sneak up on a tank drone, but tazers work.
Taze once, or taze a few more times and the tank drone is stunned for a long while.

I only fight once one, but … used 1800 power into laps time cbm + running and it was enough. How much range do you need ?
edit : worst case when i think of it, you could just build a furniture and hide behind it.
I’ve got a chain lightning implant and a load of tazers. If I don’t find the stuff for a control laptop soon I’ll try electrocuting it. I have about 5 time dilation CBMs stockpiled from bank raids but I cant install them yet.
Chain lightning won’t work.
This reminds me: not to derail, but how does the removal of bionics work? I saw mention of it but can’t remember when or how it was added.

You need a cutting tool and a first aid kit to do removal. Failure chance for removal is often higher than failure chance on success - plus there’s a chance that it will severely damage all body parts, possibly leading to death.
Outpost spoilers regarding removal of CBMs
If you’ve developed an outpost to the point of there being a doctor in the area (not the nurse), you can get assistance in installing and removing CBMs which lowers the chance of failure.

But more like what keys do I press? Is it through the bionics menu, (a)ing a knife? Or (a)ing a first aid kit? Maybe there’s a prerequisite first aid skill?
Clever use of cover. Also? Take note that unlike a lot of nasty bots, tank drones don’t self-destruct when destroyed.
Alternatively, if you have Stats Through Skills on…

p for the bionics menu, the - for remove, then choose which one
Read all the stuff on the menus - that information is in the top of the bionics menu.
The tazer didn’t stun it. I killed it with a wakizashi but it exploded on death and killed me. Why does it die easily to a sword but not C4?
Looking at a tazed tank drone won’t show that it’s stunned, but it won’t move at all or do anything else. Tested it out. Spawned a tank drone next to a survivor in a lit area, next to the survivor. Tazed it twice and moved around the tank drone afterwards, and it didn’t even try to shoot or move.
15 more zaps from the tazer later, and the tank drone was dead.
That would be it. I figured it didn’t do anything because it only uses a tazer at that range and my dielectric capacitance system was active. Did yours blow up when it died?
Nope. Never happened to me before.
he resist to almost anything (on top of having heavy weaponry), that’s why it’s one of the most hard to kill guys you may find (talking about a fight, not a cheesy way to get rid of enemy).
Thats also why I don’t even try to get rid of them unless I have a laptop (before I would just avoid it …), or during night time.
Tested right now, me against 10 tank drone, night, spawn them at 30 range close together. I run, when close to them i use time dilatation (3k power); they were all dead before it run out but the last one, that put some fire (ended in a big hole that made me falling 2 level down lol, big explosion, hopefully i was able to climb)
Worst case, he react to sound, you may want to hide yourself using something (furniture) and trow stuff to make it move somewhere it won’t annoy you. That’s risky, but if you don’t go close (I don’t remember what range each weapon have), he will only target you will the missile launcher; Just hide & go back further, it’s fine. Do he may be able to run out of missile ammo ? If that so, at this point it would be an easy target.
