So, I now have about 8 NPCs in my camp. Most of them are just grunt crafting and collecting stuff (and eating my food reserves), but I decided to keep two of them with me at all time, to help with crafting, pulp zombies and the like. I chose two with decent melee skills, gave them some decent-ish gear and so on.
However, they’re still called “refugees”, I’d love to rename them to “companions” or “bodyguard” or something so that I can easily identify them and not send them collecting firewood per mistake. Is there a way to do so?
Agreed, debug only ruins a game when you use it to do ruinous things. Nicknaming an NPC should be an existing function, but right now all we have is the debug option.
NPC naming would almost certainly have to be done via a proper pull request, Modding generally cannot touch that sort of stuff. Maybe with LUA modding, but thats in constant threat of just being deprecated and breaking. I don’t think they’d have any objection to an NPC nickname feature though.
