How do you repair metal weapons?

What equipment does it take to repair a metal weapon? My trusty combat knife is dented now and I’m worried it will fall apart soon but repairing it has proven difficult. Does it need a forge?

A soldering iron and scrap metal.

BTW you should have used the Tips and tricks thread, but thats not a big deal.

For basic things like knives, soldering iron.
For advanced firearms, firearm kit/gunsmith kit.

Also, item status affects the stats.

A damaged weapon does less damage, while a reinforced one gets a bonus. It’s the same principle as armour.

Thanks guys! Does effectiveness rely on the mechanics skill like repairing kevlar?

Yah, if you have mechanics of about 3 (read under the hood) id say you are fine for repairing stuff without worrying about breaking it.
