How do I erase marked firewood sources?

I find it hard to believe it’s literally impossible to erase a mental designation, but I can’t find any information anywhere as to how to do this. Currently marking a firewood source, practice target, or crafting area renders the tile completely unusable for all future construction, even if the tile is destroyed completely. Is there something simple I’m missing?

If I remember correctly, you have to [e]xamine it.
Yes, [e]xamine it and there should be a query: “There is a firewood source there. Take down (Y)es/(N)o?”
Select (Y)es and press enter or [Shift] + [Y] should do the trick.
