Having problems with key bindings

so a while ago i switched to a laptop which doesn’t have a numberpad, so i pretty much gave up playing Catadda. just today i decided to try to take up Catadda again, and in order to have the same approximate movement key layout i bound the movement keys as follows:

y u i
h j k
b n m

with “j” being the “wait” key.

but now for some weird reason, when for example i try to smash objects to the northeast by hitting s>i i get the message “invalid direction”, and the directional keys are all kinds of mixed up with regard to all kinds of actions. how do i get the keys to work right?

IIRC this is a problem caused because ATM cataclysm really has two different “movement” options (something we’ve been hoping to fix for a while now :P). One is used for most things and is rebind able, but the other one still shows up occasionally and is hardcoded to the arrow keys/numpad. Most likely you are running into one of these spots, and therefore it isn’t fixable at the moment. :frowning:

One (somewhat) solution, even if i don’t have ant knowledge of it, could be to try to emulate a numpad.

damn, i guess i’ll have to delete and wait for a later version, or until i can buy a new computer with a numberpad. or… perhaps use my old keyboard with my laptop…

Now I’m not saying this is an acceptable solution, but if you really wanna play… http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2PN1080138

You can always just use the arrow keys and then the numbers across the top of your keyboard for the diagonals. Not the best way or most intuitive, but it will work until such time as we manage to remove the old, hardcoded stuff.
