Chem/med recipes

With all the new chemicals cropping up in labs I was thinking it might be cool to make the chem recipes more grounded in reality. For example, aspirin out of water and oxidiser sounds weird, and then cooking meth and diazepam out of that sounds weirder. I’d be willing to go through all the craftable meds and research a more realistic recipe plus recipes for all the reagents if the devs aren’t opposed to it on game balance issues.

For example, aspirin should be.

Components -

  • Salicylic Acid (made from willow bark)
  • Acetic Anhydride (made from acetic acid, could also be used for heroin recipe and mixing with hydrogen peroxide to make explosives)
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Clean Water


  • Chemistry Set
  • Nearby fridge (if possible)
  • Moonshine

We don’t have a good way to automatize all the crafting phases, and having to manually craft 5 intermediates just to craft aspirin would be a major pain.

What if the base components of the reagents were considered the ingredients ; willow bark, acetic acid and sulphuric acid?

We don’t have a good system for that either.
Currently a single reagent can only be replaced by a multiple of another reagent. So you can have a recipe that uses 100 flour or 2 acorns, but you can’t have a recipe that uses [10 flour and 1 water and fire] or [1 bread].

Crafting enhancements are planned, but with no set date or anything. Just a thing that everyone wants.
