so it says something about having to be in the sun in order to work. does that mean they have to be above ground, above ground and out of door, or above ground, out of doors, and in sunny conditions?

if they have to be out of doors(meaning no roof over them) do they still take damage in acid rain?

Outside in sunny conditions.
Otherwise they are useless.

We should really add a way to power these with batteries somehow. Either be able to drop a charged car battery on the same square and have it draw from (and charge when able) that, or just give them an internal battery and the RECHARGE flag, so you could toss them in a trunk with a recharge station for a while to fuel them up, then set them out.
