I cant find any since the stable
In that case, public works facilities (and garages) are your friends. ;w;
Using the fertilizer bomb on the city called forth a massive horde. Lacking the ammo to take them on I choose to be discreet and made my survivor retreat back to base.
Got me thinking though; if I could lure the horde to the open fields next to my base to do great battle with them. I thought of two possible methods to take them on.
The dwarven method: since food can be eaten in adjacent tiles now, I can drag several types of booze to get the massive morale and stat boost from drinking every type of booze.
The explody method: build a two tile wheelbarrow, one has a cargo space for ammunition, the other tile holds either a ballista or a canister launcher. Supernova bolts or big bang canisters only.

…No clue how I’d break into a lab armory. …Damn it.
I need so much stuff.
An acetylene torch is your friend. o3o
If only. Lack of equipment is the issue here. Cities and their garages are God knows where. It’s just endless forest and roads as far as eye can see… Nah, I did find a tourist map. There are cities a good distance away. Too far. The game sure makes me work for everything I get…
I’m currently trolling military outpost turrets with a mounted M2. I drive 21-25 squares away, just outside their range, and start taking shots at them, mostly missing, like maybe 5-10% of the rounds hit.
Before that I was switching vehicles, from the Sports Car to an Armored Car. There’s a mi-go in the distance in the woods but I ignore it. It lingers there for several hours… until it tries to attack me while I was removing and installing car parts! This is midday, maybe. I barely get my 416 out and give it a good burst 5 tiles away. It goes ‘severely wounded’ and starts fleeing. I try to run after and give it another burst but it runs too fast. One doesn’t simply kill mi-gos with 1 in ‘rifles’ and 2 in ‘marksmanship’. Mind you this with ‘tough zombies’ enabled. Anyway, the mi-go flees, screaming things like “You’ll pay for that!” and “Please spare me!” and I’m laughing and thinking “Good. It’s not coming back now.”
I continue swapping car parts and the night falls. Then I suddenly get the prompt “Heard crash, stop doing what you’re doing?”. Lumps and chunks of steel appear where they shouldn’t.
“It did just f**king not…”
Oh yes it did, it came back for more, still severely wounded. It didn’t attack me so much as the new car, thrashing the doors and whatnot, staying on the door tile being like “Such a nice car! Would be a shame if anything happened to it [WHAM WHAM WHAM CRASH WHAM]” Bastard. It lingered in the distance earlier the entire day, making a racket in the woods, interrupting my repairs. What a troll. I was on the edge the entire time if I should go kill it, but decided not to. Goddamnit. Then the night fell and that’s when it made its move. Since I was deeper in the car, I didn’t want to burst-fire my 416 in the fear I’d hit the car. So I advanced closer. When I stepped next to it, that’s when it hit me. Twice. Nearly destroyed my arm. I had forgotten I had nothing but elbow pads on my arms.
Eat hot lead, mi-go.
It finally collapses. I drag its body out under the car and pulp it. I pretty much wanted to cut its head off and put it on the car as a hood ornament. So much justice in that kill.
If I ever create a new world I’d want a base ideally underneath an ice lab that’s also has a rift. Happened once in a game, and I kinda want both fire and ice as the foundations of a base.
Anyway, go figure. For the first time ever, encountered a gun store that wasn’t wrecked - no zombies in the vicinity even. Perhaps to mock my finding, the game saw fit to leave only a tiny bit of ammo in that store.
A nearby car also exploded, causing a great big hole in the ground and a lot of zombies dead from falling.
Also, blowing stuff up with the fertilizer bomb is hella fun. Smashing a house filled with zombies down, and many more dying from falling into a basement. Good stuff.
Night 09
Spent the last 4 days leveling up my electronics and fab and crying about how I couldnt learn the vehicle welding rig. And then realized my mechanics was too low.
I set the city size to my usual 7 and the space in between cities at 7 as well. may have been a mistake because there’s just so much nothing and I dont play as a woodland survivor. I need copper wire, and I need a city for that in any significant bulk.
Ive been surviving off moonshine, which really hurts the int when youre trying to read books. Ive been hallucinating so much and damaging my weapons blocking said hallucination’s attacks. Ive run through my food, and Ive traveled too far from my starter city to go back now. My fire truck is in much better shape than it would be in 0.C though. Nothing around to smash it when when they can path into it from the side to begin with.
I found a shelter, and due to surrounded start a horde of dogs were guarding it. I pulled to a stop and stepped out, only to realize that I was hallucinating. What that means is false positives on zoms, and you have to waste a turn ‘killing’ the hallucination before you can move into its tile. And also it meant that when I was unloading my H&K into a brute the hullk I saw approaching was real and I didnt realize it until he sent me flying.
Uph. 2 bumps cocaine, 2 codeines, Flee!
Into the shelter I went, and at the bottom of the stairs I got my reprieve and could reload. There, in the dark, I was able to lose it and also got the super loot that was Jean (fits) and nothing else. What a waste of time.
I dont even have a funnel to refill the water cannons on the truck, although I have enough spare parts to replace everything once I get this vehicle mounted welder running. Ive even taken to deconstructing MREs to get their purification tablets Im getting so desparete. Ive got 200 volume of educational books, alcoholism, spare vehicle parts and a hacksaw/wrench but no means to fix my slowly decaying firetruck, 2 water cannons but no water for funnel, moonshine for booze, breaking weapons, no more explosives, and Im down to MREs and junk food inaddition to the game hinting at a parasite and poor health. Youd think the constant BAC of .2 would stop the tummy worms or something but nope.
pedit: I downloaded sewer maps, and the only thing revealed was the 3x3 of the treatment plant. So nope, Im wtfing out of that game.
ANFO, that’s the one! Blew a massive crater right to the third level of a mine.
I’m getting bored with my usual setup, it seems like there are a lot fewer zombies at .8 spawn than there used to be, I must have missed a PR that altered spawn rates. I find myself with entirely too much free time now, doing crazy things such as luring a town out to the local mine where I’ve placed an ANFO barrel… On a side note, climbing enemies should be a thing, I can hear a lot of noise down in that crater but I can’t see anything and they can’t get to me.
So I was looting a house. Looted everything on the main floor and then found a basement. I went down into the basement and found a survivor basement. As I started killing the survivor zombies with my rifle I realized there was a skeleton. I had no melee weapon on me and I wasn’t getting headshots often enough to deal with it so I set a small fire under it, figuring the stone floor should be fine and it wouldn’t spread… boy was I wrong. So long story short I start putting out the fires thinking I’m fine… but it had spread all over the place. So I was burned down to the point where my legs were crippled. I crawled out of the basement. At this point I realized the fire had claimed my glasses and I could barely see. (I’m near sighted). At which point I drive my solar SUV back to my LMOE shelter. Crawl my happy but into the door. I make a splint, take some ambien (out of pain killers) and pass out on my bed. After a while up. I spend my convalescence catching up on my skill reading. Learning lots of melee moves and I think I’ll take a melee weapon with me next time.
Blowing things up with fertilizer bombs, eh? Such an anarchist you are.
Anyway, praise the RNG god as I just spawned in a lab challenge and it gave me an NPC with a katana.
I’ll befriend him and ‘hopefully’ he won’t run into an unfortunate ‘accident’.

Meh, without Niten Ichi-Ryu, I’d take a machete over a katana, especially at the beginning - the damage is a bit lower, but the speed is MUCH better, and the hit bonus is higher.

Totally agree with you. However a bit of my gameplay is shaved off having to either find or make a working katana/nodachi/wakizashi etc.
Also, there are no mistakes, just happy ‘accidents’
It’s seriously fun. With fey nightsight, I’ll throw one at a group of zombies currently smashing a car, and without fail it’ll mow down a ton of them. And a second or third bomb will usually vaporize several of the corpses. …it does summon the horde icons on the map when I do it in a city, though.
That said, I need to try dynamite as well. Seems slightly easier to craft, since with fertilizer bombs (if I ever run out of commercial fertilizer) I’ll need to make bone and chitin powder then combine the two to make liquid fertilizer. On the other hand, I can make a ton of concentrated acid to make dynamite since I have a ton of batteries. Of course, if I run out I’ll need to make acid water from clean water and turn that into concentrated acid.
Basically, both are more or less the same in terms of crafting steps, I guess. Wish I know which bomb is more potent.
Found an awl pike and for the first time discovered a training manual for medieval swordsmanship in the same mansion. Feels like a katana with niten, with the addition of a ranged attack.
Found a wrist DREAD off those scientist remains (remains since there’s no more corpses). Making the ammo was easy enough, but man, with a name like that the results are somewhat disappointing. Can’t be worn on the hands, too.
I suppose I can carry it around, for something to catch fish, as the guns my survivor carries tends to vaporize the fish. I could augment it with an aux flamethrower so I can carry around some napalm to burn stuff with. Adding a bayonet gives the wrist DREAD a reach attack. Stretchy arms~
I’ve also raided a electronics store and have a few UPS(s) and batteries… Now then, how rare are those helmets?
Too damn rare. ;w;
Any good locations to get the helmets with (Relative) ease?
Spider houses, spider basements, wasp houses, dead group of soldiers, helicopter crash ruins… I don’t know about bunkers…
think I heard they also show up in banks and other places that power Armour spawns but more rare… or are you referring to some other helmet?
