Savescumming a bit as I make my survivor cut out bionics. Not faulty bionics… just the ones that really isn’t needed, and for most part clogging the bionics screen.
Made about 400 fruit waffles from the excess strawberries that won’t fit the counter set aside for it. Also, it’s slow to take from a stack of 4000 strawberries, and until I reduce that amount to around 1.5k, I think that strawberries won’t be part of the farming when spring arrives.
That’s a whole lot of strawberries! o3o
So Strawberries are like the Cataclysm version of plump helmets?
Every crop feels like a plump helmet once you accidentally grow too much of them. Also got a large amount of blueberries… and tomatoes… and potatoes.
Strawberry surprise may end up like dwarven wine since my survivor can pretty much use it for food and drink - comes in many servings as well despite the nutrition and quench values. I suppose boozeberry would be more like dwarven wine, since it has negative enjoyment from consuming it, which would be kinda like dorfs getting tired of dwarven wine.
Reduced the strawberry stock via making several granola, fruit waffles, dehydrated fruit, and fruit juice. Fruit juice was the fastest method; filled a barrel and I suppose I can make more as a component for unfermented vinegar, fruit wine must, and fancy hobo. Turning the strawberries into fruit juice produced several hundred fruit pulps, which I suppose can be used for protein shakes.
Gonna hit up three bee hives in the vicinity. I can jackhammer through all of them to gather wax… but I suppose I’ll take only 2k volume of wax before stopping the wax taking. If I need more I can always come back. What I want most is the honey combs, which I’ll need a lot of to fill a keg of spiced mead must and bee’s knees.
Every recipe I know of that uses wax can also use tallow and either tainted tallow or cooking oil (or even lamp oil), all of which are far easier to get and completely renewable… And none of those recipes are things I use ALMOST ever (unless I’m doing a “far from civilization” kind of run).
Is there some useful thing about wax that I’m missing?
Finished harvesting the bee hive. 342 honey combs, 66 royal jelly… exactly 4000 wax. Two hives left to go, so for each item the amount in the end will be around triple for each.
Every recipe I know of that uses wax can also use tallow and either tainted tallow or cooking oil (or even lamp oil), all of which are far easier to get and completely renewable… And none of those recipes are things I use ALMOST ever (unless I’m doing a “far from civilization” kind of run).

I have no idea. If I ever find out I’ll probably have 10k wax to use, at the very least. Hoarding items, basically.
Though, I suppose you can make clay containers and candles out of them, instead of using tallow which can be reserved for recipes that require tallow or lard, such as pemmicans.
Nubbles got out and wandered in my general direction when I thoughtlessly opened up the loading bay doors to go get more rocks. I went maybe 10 overmap tiles to a nearby house with a basement. He was found slightly north of the warehouse halfway between the two locations. He did not want to go home, even with me pushing him. so I tied him up and went to construct the rest of my building. I found him trying to escape into the river, seeming to teleport when I stopped looking at him even though I tied him up.
Due to the river making the area uneven, Ive rather ingeniously used mounted welder/forge to occupy and block los for the walls.
2 9mm bullets from the H&K MP5 is enough to kill a brute. Training submachine gun skills with the rotary carbine sure paid off, I guess. The bullets are completely useless against a shoggoth, though. Found a lab with the portal console.
If I recall, I can activate and deactivate the portal, and I vaguely recall that it’ll spawn nether creatures when active. I dunno, I suppose I could activate it to try, and use the nether creatures as a source of meat. Gozus have meat and fat, the latter of which I really want.
This makes me think that’s how America would actually react to the cataclysm. There’s eldrich horrors invading, and we’re considering inviting more in because they might taste good!
One thing I noticed about shoggoths. Having them consume items in large volumes seems to give them a large health boost, which I’m not sure is temporary.
Also found out that the MP5 can be fired while driving. Now I’m tempted to unicycle to a horde shooting things up.

Now I want to see someone draw a guy on a unicycle shooting an assault rifle. Preferably with a top hat, stylish sunglasses, gasmask, and a wool lined trenchoat complete with fuzzy cat-tail.
Seems like firing at a corpse can destroy the body, and several types of item. The IAR can destroy the bodies faster, though it can only get a hulk as far as bruised.

At the risk of getting political, that’s exactly how the our political class thinks (IMO, because they feel completely insulated from the consequences). A very large majority of the people as a whole do NOT.
I tend to have this problem a lot when firing lazer turrets on full auto. If there are no targets close enough to finish the burst, it targets the items in the square as the last standing target, starting with the first one… and corpses are always at the bottom of the list. :-/

It happens all the time with the pneumatic assault rifle for me.
In any case, what I wanted to say that I just found out that destroying things via bullets can be done manually and not just to trigger happy.
Hmm. Funnels won’t collect water despite rain if my survivor is not on the same z-level. I have a room in the bar I’m planning to make with several funnels and multiple 55 gallon drums that was supposed to collect rainwater.
Oh well, I suppose I’ll just gather water from the nearby river. Since I have a ton of them, I’ll just turn that room into a line of minifridges and upgraded solar panels, to store cold drinks.
There’s a small town that was cleared of zombies. I dragged dumpsters and statues to decorate the bar. Shame pool tables can’t be dragged.
It’s morning, Spring Day 1. It’s been a year. Yesterday, I removed the last broken bionic.
I also finally found an Integrated Toolset CBM from a scientist zombie I butchered, and I also FINALLY managed to get to a store with a grocery cart (with the wheels intact), so I’ve got that going for me, too. Yay!
The only other lab I’ve found was a great find… for later. CVD machine, top floor, right next to the entrance, not even an ice lab. Wow. Now all I need is to find the book with the diamond recipes. Otherwise, though, that lab was pretty lousy - lots space (for a single floor lab), but no useful bionics. Again. At least this one has a couple of barracks I’ll break into later.
Now all I need is… a ridiculous ton of CBMs and SOLAR PANELS (haven’t found a one). Oh, and a HackPRO - that would help.
It’s morning, Spring Day 1. It’s been 2 years.
I found quite a lot of the “ridiculous ton of CBMs” this year. Not all of them, but quite a few. I have all 4 stat CBMs, a Night-generator, probability travel, Dieletric capacitance, and a few other odds and ends. I have the main 6 bionic energy CBMs (no microreactor, but I don’t usually bother with it even if I have it). Main thing I want at this point is the UPS CBM.
Built a mobile base vehicle (the ArmoredMeCarrier), which has full military composite armor, 3 engines (enhanced electric, V12 gas, V8 diesel), a mounted A7 on the driver’s seat, and I just last night added a Tesla turret. Also have the “big 6” utilities: electric forge, welding rig, chem lab, kitchen unit, kitchen buddy, and minifridge.
I finally found some solar panels - grabbed 2 from an electric car, then in winter, I found a SOLAR car, so I now have all the “safe” slots on my AMC.
And yes, I did get a HackPRO - found it in a robotic street sweeper (the most common place I find them, actually).
I think it’s time to go on a little longer road trip now - time to clean out some towns and work my way down the to Refugee Center far south from here. Did I mention I play on 5X spawn?
Behold! The underground fortress (still under construction)
First up is the garage. Vehicle parts and seeds are stored here.
Didn’t want a palisade gate, so I made using several extra light frames, boards, wheels, and one saddle, food crank, and controls, I built a sort of mini vehicle that serves as a gate blocking the interior of the garage from the outside world. Not in the pic, but I removed one of the boards and turned it into a shutter door instead. Plan to also make a solar powered portable welding rig outside the garage. Farm will be somewhere outside as well.
The garage is connected to the room leading to the stairs into the fort, and the bar storage which is connected to the bar. That place is empty right now, so no point in showing it.
A corridor.
Nothing much to say about it, it’s a hallway. North of where my survivor is standing another hallway will be build that’ll lead to several bedrooms for my underground city.
General storage room.
Spare parts, books, tools, clothing, two by fours, pipes, rebars, logs, rocks, and pretty much almost every item in the other category is stored here.
Lab storage and main crafting area.
Chemicals, mutagen, bionics, drugs, blob globs, goo canisters, teleporter stuff are here. Crafting rig has storage batteries on all tiles that a storage battery can be placed, and they’re all maxed out without making much of a dent in the two external gas tanks. An NPC is on guard there until I feel like digging further to make rooms.
The armory.
It’s got all the guns, weapons, ammo, explosives, armor, gun mods and inactive hacks and turrets. I plan to make mini security rooms all over the fort, and some of the guns will be stored there. Mostly for decoration. Many of the planned rooms will take items from the storage areas to make them not empty. Every bedroom will come with a jumpsuit!
My survivor’s bedroom.
A bedroom. Door on the upper left is a small office leading to the corridor. On the bottom left is the vault of valuables; gold, diamonds, jewelry and artifacts.
Food storage. Three sections.
Non-perishable food storage; ingredients on the right, drinks, junk food, and several ready to eat food on the left. On the middle are bones, stuff foraged, and lots and lots of wax (about 14k wax).

The kegs. All alcoholic drinks. One keg for each booze with positive nutrition and quench numbers on the left. On the right are the ones with negative quench numbers; less types for that so one type can have multiple kegs. Some booze are stored on the first food storage room as well.
And finally, the perishable food storage. Cannibal cuisine is on the top left. Farm and foraged are bottom left. Butchered meats on the bottom right, as well as the perishable stuff from zombies plus pelts and mutated anatomy. Top right is under construction and the food that’ll be stored there are the perishable stuff my survivor will make. The portable cooking thing is there since my survivor was previously cooking. That room used to be the big room where you can use the black box, and I didn’t want to remove the console. Door to the left leads to the containment area where the shoggoth is.
does cannibalism effects stop taking effect if you eat enough? Like with killing zombie children?
