Day 81. Backtracked across the river and drove to the next town over. Immediately found scientist loot (no corpses at this late date). Of note was the Remote Controller CBM. Score! Now I just need to find the book for drive by wire controls. Or, y’know, find them laying around somewhere. Heading to the two regional schools next. Crossing my fingers.
Found a chicken walker guarding a chokepoint in the city. I was nowhere near the point where it was viable for me to take it on in combat, so I just stayed far away.
That is, until I heard a huge explosion and discovered that the zombies somehow managed to single-combat it to death. Thanks guys, your sacrifices will be remembered.
totally didn’t make any “Chicken… Walker?” jokes when I saw it no sir
Well, the storage areas and main bedroom has been made. Most items from the old base has been hauled to the base and placed in their appropriate containers - will have to wait a week until winter to move the perishable stuff. I might get away with doing it now as snow has begun to fall, but might as well not risk it.
I may do the garage, to store the car parts and have a place for the Sluggernaut and the plow-seeder out of the rain. I’ll take a break on that for now. Too much digging and making crates. Time for a little bit of exploration.
Lab map revealed three bee hives, so that’s what I plan to raid when winter is around.
Just had my first encounter with a Zombie Grenadier.
I promptly noped right out of there, on the conclusion that grenade-throwing zombies are bad news… then did a search for info. Automated suicide bombs sounded like bad news, but this one was sort of blocking my exploration of town, and I figured I’d give it a shot. I armoured up, and came prepared to duel it with a pistol, only to find that it’d attracted the attention of a wolf since I’d left. I watched the ensuing fight from a safe distance for about half an hour, during which time the grenadier did nothing but stagger around randomly, while the wolf accomplished nothing but to make enough noise to attract a couple more zombies… one of which got stuck in a nearby car, the other of which the wolf promptly killed before returning its attentions to the grenadier.
Concluding that the situation wasn’t about to change, I decided to intervene… but I decided to make a quick check of the abandoned vehicles between me and the fight, just in case. Success; the first vehicle this run which is drivable (I’ve had uncommonly bad luck with vehicles so far; can’t complain, since my starting shelter was on the same map screen as a nicely-isolated farm), and it’s a nice big flatbed truck, fully-intact but for the security system. Almost no gas, but it shouldn’t take much for what I have in mind.
As always, vehicles are the best weapon. The grenadier led with a flashbang, which exploded just as I started ramming it, blinding me to the ensuing carnage; I just kept right on driving. Several explosions later, the truck was stuck in some trees off to the side of the road, and there was a freshly-dead grenadier well behind me.
I don’t bother bringing the truck back home to the farm, since right about the corner is a more-or-less intact SWAT Truck with a decent amount of diesel in the tank and a bunch of tasty ammo in the back; a much worthier vehicle, especially once I get a chance to fix it up a bit.
My question is why the hell do flaming eyes have stomachs.

Chicken walkers appear even more frail in melee than stationary turrets, which def dont hold up long when a horde spawns.
tank drones in the stable took a good beating. Ive yet to see them in the experiemental though
They’re still pretty durable, as I recall.
Switching from rifles to submachine guns for now. The rotary carbine is quite fun, and I can use up all the .22 bullets that’s been piling up. So far with the mods on it doesn’t match a modded rifle, but it’s still pretty damn reliable at killing crowds. Stepped into smoker zombie smoke, saw about ten zombies. Two bursts killed them all. An uninjured hulk takes a whole 20 bullet burst to kill. All headshots.
Once I run out of .22 bullets I’ll switch to a different submachine gun.
They feed of light alone. And how else are you going to metabolize light?
I think a giant levitating eyeball that shoots death rays poses more complicated anatomical riddles than why it has a stomach.
Odd. Was unicycling back to base, when all of a sudden the turrets I set up on the underground fort began shooting. Not exactly sure what they were shooting at either. When I went to investigate, there was no signs of anything getting killed or wounded, and there were casings on the ground.
I’m suspecting that somehow they detected the pet shoggoth and they tried shooting at it.
I use cameras. I only have quarter panels and reinforced windows in front with curtains, to drive close enough to use control laptop on turrets before they waste my precious ammo. Because the cameras can’t see when it’s dark I also install overhead lights. It’s all for the loot, not a piece must be left behind.[/quote]
Reinforced windshields with curtains. >.<
Ive tested it enough, and its presents itself as an acceptable compromise between the two. And more fun than either. Im going to at least do it for my bed
Just found a survivor’s note in a LMOE shelter saying: “SHOOT YOURSELF, LET IT END QUICKLY”.
;-;
Still better than the mushroom babies note. ;w;
Just found my first Rivtech stimulant delivery system. Oh dear God, idk about in the game, but needless injections hurt. Like the dickens.
Pressurzing fluid so much that it literally tears into your flesh is not my idea of fun.
I found it to the north of my spawn point, east of where I spent most of my time exploring. I havent found ‘the spot’ yet, but overall the whole thing is geographically sound. I found a completely empty warehouse by a town that was meteored to hell and back, maybe Ill set up there? ITs bordered by the river and right next to a bridge.
I found a missile silo and my computer is enough to get in but not play God yet. I found several labs and frankly I have too much stuff so Im holding off on that until I can find a simple electronics book. I have the bodies of 26 manhack awaiting decon so I can craft some for myself. I have a small mountain of CBMs waiting for a decent chance at install, as well as 750 power and some basic ones, like the cranial flashlight.
Im a huge fan of the cranial flashlight. With the joint ratchets in it chargesitself. Its provides a fair field of light and is the pefect buddy for you in labs or just doing house work. It runs on metabolism in this game, but I do have an ethonal burner, and alcohol has proven to be a great source of energy for my infrequent use of heavier bionics.
I went to plant town, torched several Queens and butchered many fighters, I have so many fluid sacs now. I had so many fruits I filled a plastic jerrycan with fruit juice and then had some left over. So now Ive replaced water with fruit juice for the time being.
The Industrious is slowly being changed over to a heavy frame as I get them or they need repair. Im still loath to go ‘home’ halfway through the summer, and the Industrious is basically my home. I cant believe its taken so much to get my electronics up
OHHHH. Yea, Crater town was pretty slow. And I dont know how I was supposed to know that was there, considering my RP guidelines.
I moved into the warehouse though. Gonna make some divisors and create a homier experience.

In the experimental, there’s some problems with turrets shooting across z-levels. I commonly find things in labs that are dead without reason and turrets that have used all their ammo with nothing in the room with them.
I’ve never had it happen to ME yet - I suspect it won’t happen to the player, that it’s something to do with the z-levels and stuff not on the current level code.
This would explain why my follower died on the 1st floor of the lab from bullets outta nowhere. There was a turret in a room directly northeast of the stairs on the level below us.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
My last play was two days ago, I raided a military outpost with an invisibly cloak and a control laptop. Found a Barrett .50 cal and proceeded to mod the hell out of it, then went to town and went on a rampage while looting tanks.
Also found a fusion blaster arm and made a fusion blaster rifle. Since I have a UPS bionic and joint torsion CBM all this has become Self sufficient and made my life much easier.
GG monsters.
Been going on a scavenger hunt for blob parts…but in the latest experimental they’re not steerable…
