Incidentally, there’s one room in the ice lab storage filled with dead NPCs. Not the human corpses you find on ice labs, but named NPCs who were wandering a little too close to the base. One tile per corpse. For decor.
Hmm, I debugged slime tiles on my base and went to bed. No blobs spawned, it seems. Going with that in mind, I’ll attempt to wipe out the inhabitants of a slime pit and then burn the whole thing later. Time to mod up that rotary carbine.
I suvived with a forewardslash head and colon health for the rest.
That is… hardcore.

Cataclysm DDA: where ‘colon health’ means something completely different than what you’d expect.
Autumn. On the last day of summer got around to fnishing up my latest vehicle, the ‘(A)dvanced Crafter’s Workshop’, which is just a 3x3 building vehicle with a welder, forge, and chemical kitout, and the storage space for them. I did put in a small electric motor so I could move it around, but meh.
I made 11 wooden javilens to break in the forge. I somehow went from 11 javelins to 5 iron javelins Not sure where they went honestly. But before I could make those, I had to make the crucble, the anvl, and a brazier because it was raining out.
I took some mutagen to celebrate, some beast serum, and 2 crafted mutagens. I was already beautiful, but gained smart and near-sghted. The purifier I had saved from a lab took away the other traits, namely feathers on my arms and body.
So now here I am, smart and beautiful and near-sighted. In the middle of the woods, without glasses of any kind. tried driving my A.P.S. into town and bu that became too much too quick. So I parked the scavanger by the side of the road, displacing a fitting number of shrubs and treelings, and got out the compound delivery book. 23 hours later, its autumn, and I know how to make all sorts of serum but no purifier. >.<
Im still blind as tits too.

Finding glasses isn’t exactly difficult. Just wait until night and go raid the nearest town. There are always craptons of the things in the bedrooms of houses.
mmm. Thats all well and good but a hulk happened. And his friends spitty and shocky too. So Im no longer able to get purifer or glasses.
Have managed to train 3 NPCs to cooking level 10. Alas, having them higher in skill, as well as having more of them, doesn’t decrease the crafting time further. So pretty much 1 NPC with high enough skills is needed.
All three started at level 2 cooking. Started with dehydrated meat and sugar beet syrup, then at level 3 it was dandelion wine must and kompot. Level 4 was spent making protein powder out of the dehydrated meat, then vodka wort was made. With level 5 came sugar making from using sugar beets making batches of 20 for 30 hours, then at level 6 was salt with slightly less time for a total of 16 hours per batches of 20. Having NPCs helping out reduced the time to make sugar by about 6 hours, but by the point of salt I didn’t even take note of it as I kept grinding them to craft.
When they reached level 7, I moved to chems. Sewagas inhalers and thorazines, and at level 8 is was oxidizer powders and finally mutagen. Level 9 turned those mutagens into serum, and I also made rat mutagens and turned those to serums. I made some more mutagens, turned them to purifiers, then serumized those. In any case, at this point it was all a matter of finishing the goal more than anything, as basic mutagen crafting doesn’t take as long as making sugar or lye.
My onboard chemistry set will no longer hold anything, so on day 59, I decided it’s time to finally start cranking out mutagen, in anticipation of finding a recipe book that isn’t cephalopod, slime, plant, or rat mutagen. Might go with medical after deciding whether I want a foxgirl or a catgirl (no, really). Already have the threshold dreams just from my base traits. Made a batch of 20 and still haven’t dented my supplies. Now on day 60, I woke up and noticed that my clean meat supplies were starting to age. Made a bunch of jerky that I’m going to sell to the refugee center merchant, possibly with the rest of my canned supplies. Only some of it, more likely. Oh, also found and successfully installed an Electromagnetic Unit a few days back. Still wondering about what ordnance accepts a radio activation mod. Aside from C4 and dynamite, of course. Would be nice to have anti-tech radio mines.

I prefer to use them to craft bone meal and then fertilizer. When they become potatoes and then vodka and then ethanol and then diesel and then grenades I have the impression they are not dead in vain.
At the very least that room of corpses will be an emergency supply. Got like 6000 bones from raiding labs during the winter.
Been chugging down a lot of elf mutagen. Surprisingly compared to previous survivors, I’ve acquired I think most of the good mutations and only two of the bad; high thirst and fast metabolism, which I suppose cancels out the bionics my survivor has, which is okay.
More importantly, light bones is not in the mutations screen, so all is right with the world.
Well, this is odd. Was going to the ice lab area of my base. Instead of going down the stairs, I pressed the key to go up, and the game asked which direction should I climb up.
Curious, I did so, and found myself in a vast field of open space. With no where else to go, I move in one direction, and I find my survivor badly injured as she falls down to the ice lab area.
I’ll chalk it up to a real bad hallucination from drinking so much.
Anyway, taking stock of the booze kegs.
Strawberry surprise - 2374, 65% full. Expected to be full before planting season ends, with excess to drink. Won’t be drunk until there’s an excess supply.
Dandelion wine - 1218, 29% full. Not sure if it will be full before planting seasons ends. Nevertheless, survivor takes from the keg sometimes and fills a large waterskin up.
Pine wine - 1694, 40% full. Not sure when it’ll be full. Too much time crafting stuff, and no time to gather pine boughs. Not being drunk at the moment.
Wild apple - 226, 37% full. Will try to harvest enough apples to fill the keg up. Drinking the ones taken from liquor stores.
Whiskey sour - 300, full keg. Excess supply has been drunk. I need to find more lemonade, or take the lemon drink mix from the MREs to make more.
Fruit wine - 4200, full keg. Excess supply made plus the ones taken from liquor store. Survivor has a large waterskin to drink from.
Homebrew beer - 600, full keg. Excess supply, survivor carries a large waterskin.
Irish coffee - 600, full keg. Some excess supply. A few large waterskins ready to be used. Need to find more coffee powder to turn into coffee syrup for more excess.
Rum & cola - 600, full keg. A little excess supply, plus the ones taken from liquor stores. Out of dark cola, need more to make more excess and get to making kalimoxto.
I do have some other alcoholic drinks homebrewed, but I want to focus on creating the booze that has positive nutrition and quench values first to be put on kegs before the other ones.
Screwdriver cocktails might be next.
You can usually find coffee powder inside hotel rooms.
Yeah, I know. Unfortunately I’m pretty much surrounded by different large-size towns, so for most part I have to dig through wrecked coffee shops for supply. Once winter hits I plan to search for a new base to relocate. I want another ice lab, but this time I plan to make an underground town instead of a small base.
I mentioned it once to highlight the absurdity of things, like doing it drunk while smoking a cigar, but speeding through a semi-crowded town with a unicycle-wheelbarrow, dodging obstacles and shooting at nearby zombies with a handgun is a TON of fun.
Next time I do it I’ll have my survivor take a hit from a sewagas inhaler for hallucinations for max fun.
Several rows of strawberries have become ready for harvest just an hour after autumn began. Thankfully, set several vodka wort fermenting in advance, and so I made my survivor and his minions craft nonstop all the strawberry surprise that can be crafted. Dumped about 600 two by fours in the fireplace, too. The minions sleep when they’re tired, so I set up a couple of rollmats down the crafting area for convenience.
Result, full keg of strawberry surprise, 3600 servings, and an excess of 2134 servings stored in a 30 gallon drum. Not full, but almost the amount of the keg. It’ll be part of the regular diet of my survivor.
Despite this, I planted 4 3x24 farm plots with nothing but strawberry seeds. Also, wild herb and datura kinda yields less than foraging for them, but it beats doing that.
Currently growing wheat, oat, barley, straw/black/blue/cranberries, dandelion, sugar beet, wild herbs and vegetables, datura, hops, and zucchini. Next year I’ll remove some and pick other crops to grow, cannabis and potatoes and whatnot. I want more hops to grow, too.
Testing out if I can completely clear a slime pit. I’ve done this before on older versions of the game, but just to be sure.
Of course, I should have tried to shoot down all the blobs first to see if more will spawn, but on instinct I torched the place the moment I went down the pit.
Either way, it seems to have worked, I suppose. At the very least there’s far less blobs compared to the massive hordes of em I see lately. I waited for an hour with a heavy duty flashlight switched on and no blobs entered my survivor’s sight radius.
On the other hand, this was a teeny pit. The slime pit only has one basement, and it’s 2x3 map tiles big. I’ll have to test on a bigger slime pit to be certain.
So I just activated a vein reaver and kept it on my inventory. Fun stuff. It’s like a reloadable bomb, so much fun will be had with this device. My character is half dead now, time to grind first aid.
