Decided upon a summer and base location. Its in the woods along the only proper road between the south and the cluster of the north.
The major city is to the northwest about 3 hours car travel. Theres a second south of that and a third south west of that. They do a good job impeding travel west, but I havent given it an earnest effort since I found a lab map that revealed a lot of that. To the north of that largest city is a mall and then the swamp-fungal location I wanted to originally settle.
To the east of that is the bunker I had nuked. Thats all seperated from the cities south by a river, and I have no clue whats all up there.
To the east* and north of my spot is a few suburbs and small towns, and then a larger town hugging a second river. South* of me is a vast forest that I can just see the end of due to another lab map.
So megopolises to the west, swamp to the north, a neat river to the east, and forest to the south. South of my settlement, in the forest are 4 dangers. 2 fungal structures, the bloom and the tower, loom closest, with 2 triffid groves off to the east. East of that is an ant hill and then a prison that is guarded by an outpost and those two are the only occupants of a long stretch of north-south road that cross just outside my vision over the river.
When I left this off I was infected by shrooms. I spent a sleepless night searching for pharmacies, and none of them had antifungal drugs. I tore into the heart of the 2nd largest city, wielding a shoulder-strapped shotgun and holstering 2 short shotguns, as well as a back holstered automatic gun. I carried a spear and a reserve baton, 2 grenades, 2 pipe bombs, 4 manhacks, and even a few teargas grenades and cocktails. Strapped as I was, The horde certainly did not dissapoint, although it took some time for them to ‘spot me’ and the poop to smear.
I had navigated through the dark city pretty well, and with the help of a scorched earth policy I worked through 4 pharmacies. 2 were completely lootedand empty, and 2 had meager junk. Worse still, the third 1 I went to had this suprise.
They were just having the usual zombie orgies that zombie in ascii video games seem to. Molativ and move on.
I got away from that horde, but back at the Thunderhorse I ran into 2 shocker brutes and a hulk and some aux zoms. We had fun, I lost half my arm, but I got away with half the hood of the Thunderhorse missing and a bit of ammo gone.
Finally, as the sun came up and I started vomiting sporelings I stopped at a grocery store thinking they sometimes had liquid fungicide. Across the street was a hardware store with an outside gardening center, and guess what they had when I used the Viewer? So I imagine my charact grabbing a bottle of water and tearing into the bag, shoveling spoonfuls of powder into his mouth and gargling it around with the water. Gross. -_-
That done, I looked for a last ditch location to set up in. A hotel and mansion had spawn into each other, and the hotel pool won. While there I got ripped into shreds by shriekers and regular zoms, eating up the last of my arm health. Time for a splint, which, btw, Im suprised is still used on both arms/legs instead of following the tradition of watches and holsters and being on one side. Also I think they had their armoring nerfed :igmeou:
So this location I choose. A stretch of road between the two city-worlds and south of a gas station:
The 2 sidebyside @s are my base and myself respectivly. Well, the tent I propped up and myself in the Thunderhorse. just returned from collecting my food for the winter. I spent 1 day on that. I went to an ant hill and got eggs. 159 of them. I think ants got nerfed, but who knows, maybe theyre just the same and Im comparing them to zoms. Theyre def less aggressive.
Anywho, those greyed out Ts are a fungal bloom to the left and a tower to the right. I nuked the bloom because I wasnt messing with it with a broken arm. annoying creatures.
The tower was much simpler. I literally torched its home and then walked up to the walls with a spear. Spears are more than capable of making it pretty trivial to kill it if you can hit it.
Anywho, I was trying to decide between concrete and pallisade, one being the ideal and one being much easier to do. So I rammed a palisade wall with my Thunderhorse. And then I went to a concrete cathedral and rammed into that. The car came out much better than I expected from that, only missing one wheel and a frame. Im sure the spikes helped as they do. And the ramming puntcured the church, so we’ll see.
Im already halfway though summer, having spent all my time unloading, crafting, and disassembling. oh wells.
