I didn’t notice since I took an off-road route during exploration, but parked quite near the ice lab is a self propelled howitzer. It’s got a lot of heat rounds, and is somewhat wrecked in some spots, but I can butcher the thing for spares, and it’s treads are the same size as the ones the Sluggernaut uses.
edit: alas, upon checking, none of the wheels are intact, but the rest of the vehicle is intact so I can get some spares for many things, at least.
Yeeesss. Hope you can put that main gun to good use. X3
I already have the tank gun from the light tank which was used to create the Sluggernaut, but I’m sure I can keep the howitzer among my trophies. Sooner or later I’ll consider using one of these heavies as a gun for a vehicle, but for most part I’m more comfortable with just using mundane, handheld guns.
Though yeah, the Stug Life has its 120mm gun mounted, even though I have very few rounds for it. Could switch to one of the weapons that does have ammo available, but then what if I have an “oh shit” moment that I need that main gun for? o3o
Maybe I’ll yank a solar panel out somewhere and…hmm. I’d have to yank a floor trunk out too if I want to make use of a mounted gun elsewhere, and I can’t really do that as I’m using all the space I have to organize.
Alternatively, I could replace one of the opaque doors (that I don’t really store anything in) with the version that lacks storage.
Bike’s left roughly where my stash is, since it spikes my hunger and thirst.
Since last posted:
During the day, tried to scout out what’s to the north of me (loads of water and at least two bridges, but so long I don’t know what’s on the other side).
First night, gone by the office tower to the hotel. Alas, the hotel has a corrosive Z inside, so I made notes of everything nice and tried to scout out where the road goes (nowhere interesting)
Second evening/night
I’ve gone east and found a wreckage with army helmet, rucksack and jacket. Further east there is a gas station (picked some low-level books) and a motel (cleaned it out in one go). One of the Zs dropped a heavy duty flashlight and another, neoprene arm sleeves.
The third night, I went back to the hotel. Killed a bloated Z and a spitter but retreated when I spotted the corrosive again. Swung by the office tower (same sort of things as in the first one), so I left it alone. A Z had a nice cash card I might put to good use - the office towers and the motels have vending machines.
During the day, I stay at the shelter. I have a bit of time so I use it to poke around superfluous torchlights.
For ranged combat, I have a sling and some rocks to throw. For melee, I have an aluminium bat and a trench knife as a backup. I have not enough fletching for the arrows, so I have pitifully few arrows and can’t start training archery. I also have some assorted guns but no ammo.
God, this ice lab is obnoxiously big. Just at the first floor clearing out all the threats before I move in. Map north shows cavern walls, so I think it’s the end… nope. Next room east leads to a room up north. So on and so forth.
Getting back into Cata after a while, so I decided to start a new world and debug the new guy to be my old guy yada yada, but I decided to do 3x spawns this time to see how many zombies that is. I now know the horror that is 6 corrosive fat zombies shooting acid at you. Besides the corrosive zombies the biggest problem is getting to food since the zombies won’t let me, I’ll probably die of thirst while fighting or something.
Quick Q if I may as I’m stuck.
How can we unfold some thing we can’t actually pick up due to it being to heavy/big?.
Thanks
I don’t know of a way.
You know how you can eat stuff on the ground? I really wish they would implement that more generally, that the stuff on the ground in your square could be treated as inventory for most purposes (using, unfolding, unloading, etc). Goodness knows that people in the real world don’t pick up full 55 gallon drums to get a drink from them!
-Survivor’s Station Vehicle Unit: A single vehicle unit comprised of the following:
*Kitchen unit
*Foodco kitchen buddy
*recharging station
*electric forge
*welding rig
*chemical lab
*fridge
*50 cargo space.
now I can unfold it due to not being able to actualy hold it LOL
Whew. Ice lab is only two levels deep. Main room is a laser weapons room… and explosions still damage items, and somehow the glass that blocks the lab end loot is nowhere to be found. Well, at the very least I can repair these guns.
Hostile NPC with a flamethrower waltzes into the basement of the Evac shelter and threatens me, so naturally I put my weapon down and hands up. Wait a turn. NPC attacks anyway. I get pissed, kill them for the fire and then the fire consumes all of my glorious loot. Sad days.
JSON-defined items have their own defined weight. So if you make an item that unfolds into a 50x50 vehicle made of heavy duty frames, you can still make it weigh nothing.
When you fold it, the code adds the weight of all installed items; so the individual parts of the unfolded item is greater than what the defined item had.
You can still unfold it by standing on the item and pressing Shift+a.
Hoo boy. Ice lab has been cleared of hostile creatures.
So now I got to; remove several walls on the ground floor. Add a roof to said ground floor. Arrange containers. Arrange other furniture to spice the place up. Sort out items from the truck. Sort out items from the lab. Some carpeting. Need to make bar, armory, library, bedroom, vault, and crafting station - plus maybe a few other things.
This will be painful and soul-wrecking until it’s finished. Boy oh boy!
