What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Day 10, shortly after midnight.

I went down in the direction of the second office tower. Killed a few Zs along the way and only belatedly realized I was wearing a sheet for some reason lol. I looted two houses without issue and saw a few nice vehicles along the way (electric SUV and security van, both missing wheels). One of the houses had quite a lot of perishables inside.

I also found a bike, which can alleviate my carrying problems a bit. (+60 storage is nothing to sniff at, and most importantly it doesn’t encumber me).

Right now I’m back at the shelter since the bike made me really hungry and thirsty.

I wish I had a hacksaw or a welder. There’s a couple of outlying broken cars I could get the wheels from and drive that electric SUV.

@DG123: I’m disabled (cerebral palsy) but my alter ego can survive fairly well. Last attempt lasted well into autumn before I got bored.

I’ve thought of making a character that mimics me in person. Realized I would be way too OP in the beginning since I practice a billion forms of martial arts. (Kumdo, freestyle wrestling, muay thai, taekwondo, etc.)
And other assorted nick-nacks like first aid and survival.
I considered doing this for all of 5 minutes before realising that I’d last about 5 minutes because I’m unfit and live in a country with no firearms available to the public.
I live in South Korea, no firearms available so melee and unarmed weapons are the norm I suppose. I do have access to a military base but not the weapons, like that would help. Police don’t have guns either, just whistles and sticks (Though I wouldn’t fuck with a cop with a baton, those things would hurt like a bitch.) the only guns are given to the military.

I’m pretty fit so i’ll have no problems with anything physical.

Unless I get extremely strong/dextrous in the first minute of the cataclysm, I’d be probably dead in the second. Got some ankylosing spondylitis, and running hurts like heck.

If you don’t kill the queen, ants will keep spawning there forever (though I don’t think any more eggs spawn…).

But yeah, anthills are the best. I usually have a good stash of charcoal by winter, make several trips to an anthill collecting meat (which won’t spoil in winter), then smoke it all (faster than making jerky, and better, too). I’ve had four-digit numbers of smoked meat… it’s very convenient.

I generally save all the fat I can find to make pemmican, since that’s more nutrition for the space and weight. At “home” I eat smoked meat, on the road I eat pemmican.

I’ve done the occasional tweaking to mod in a profession with similar starting loadout to what I normally wear and carry, but yeah, doing to same for trait and skill selection would be silly.

So, I’m also noticing that refugee centers don’t seem to exist in Ragnar’s realm. The only ranch I’ve seen having a slime pit in it can’t possibly help.

Child zombie breaks window, child moves into window, child zombie impales self to death on broken glass.

Burn down the entire pit. Don’t spare a single tile of slime floor.

Temping, if I come back to the ranch for any reason. Just might put the incorruptible sword to good use. Or maybe I’ll read up on the Sanguine Codex and bring a hellfire stave. X3

Well I killed a Jabberwok for a quest, and it seems to have crashed my game :frowning:

forgets to turn off my mp3 and cranial light when i went to sleep

Well helllooooo there.

I started a new game, got a nice handyman setup, starting location is great, lab probably like 10 minute walk to the west, nice city to the northeast. Open the door and get greeted by a tank drone 7 tiles from the door of the evac shelter. Close the door, walk down stairs, hostile npc with a gun spawns, starts shooting at me. So I run back upstairs and find that the npc that spawned with me has aggro’d the tank drone, and half of the building is now on fire. What a short, but interesting start.

That was the weirdest: I just found a corpse, with pretty much exactly my loadout, zombies surrounding it, and so I got a little freaked out, cause this is a totally new town and I haven’t savescummed with this character. But it turns out to be my previous successful scoundrel, and now I just have to clear out his whole loot stockpile. Fuck yeah.

Spawned in some NPCs to a nearby evac shelter basement. One of them gave me a mission to go kill the Jabberwock, which I did. Then she agreed to ride my motorcycle back to my base at the school, where I’ll be leaving her for now. She’s challenged me to kill 100 zombies, which I thought would be easy enough except that I think special zombies might not count for it as my kill count has only gone up one since then, so this might be a pain. I’ve set her up with her own bedroom in the other bathroom of the school.

Clearing out a nearby subway access that should let me make my way, by sewer, northeast several miles to cross the river and get within a reasonable distance of the refugee center. I think I’m going to use my jackhammer to set up an underground base under this subway access, so I can have a secure location to push further into the city from.

Just hit the first day of summer, and I figured that was a perfect time to upgrade to the latest experimental. I have some foraging to do, and my crops should be coming in any day now. I might have to set up a second minifridge with all the fruits and berries I planted. I’m going to need to acquire more solar panels.

I looted a sporting goods store earlier, and what a damn lucky find(s).

Foldable bike, kukri, machete, trench knife, combat knife, food and drink, rollmat, tons of books, a canteen, bows, and more useful items.
All in one shop.

Oh, hubris, and how you try to end me so many times. Still looting the non-ice lab. NPC spawns, unfriendly guy, tells me to drop my gun and put my hands up. I take a look at the shmuck, he’s wielding one of those burst fire guns that use .22 rounds.

So I drop my weapon, and wait for him to go near so I can go tazer time. Much to my surprise, he doesn’t do that and opens fire. Bullets bounce off, so I pretty much go “come on dude, give me your best shot” as let my survivor just stand there and get hit. Light survivor trench coat and dragon skin vest on torso, two survivor cargo pants in legs, and heavy survivor helmet. What can go wrong, right?

Somehow, the shmuck gets several lucky shots in the torso, and from full health I’m at half health. I wield the L12 and return fire. Would-be robber dead on the second blast.

Yeah, never, ever underestimate NPCs with guns. It does not matter if it’s a damn bb gun, they will still ruin your day and piss on your dreams.

I was just starting out on a new character, looted the town while 3 hostile NPC’s were chasing me. No way I was going up against a flamethrower, a M4A1, and a Remington 870.

I lead them into packs of zombies. Their guns will be put to good use.

Speaking of NPCs: a woman with a Rivtech short shotgun arrived and I told her she could keep me safe. Naturally she did agree (100% chance with no speaking, woot) and then asked me to get some software on a USB.
Moved her into my mansion, gave her some cooked meat for RP purposes. This is surely going to be a long and fruitful relationship :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, this is irritating. I left the door open in my Sluggernaut, and a zombie child, a lone one, went in and wrecked my kitchen unit, and somehow a heavy duty roof and a military composite armor. Those things don’t grow on trees…
