What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Scouting the area around the evac shelter.

Very far west is a triffid grove. Not going near there until I get properly armored. When I do, I might make use of it to get veggie products.

East is a fairly large town. South is a lab and a FEMA camp. Next to the refugee center is an outpost.

There’s also a large power substation north of the refugee center. I’ll use that as a base of operations. The building in that place is the living area, while the fenced in area of the substation will be my organized storage. I’ll only move out if that nearby lab is an ice lab.

In general, I’m kind of bored using a refugee center as a base of operations. Done an organized based in refugee centers at least ten times already.

I have two computers; one for home, one for work.

I haven’t updated my laptop’s C:DDA version (Version 0.C 3684) which I just ported my save and world to the newest experimental.

It works at least. I’m going to leave the lab and travel to somewhere easier to fortify in my pimped out Humvee. Then again I could just clear out all the internal walls and make this lab a base, since just a short crossing of a river and i’m in a large town.

My alter ego has got to day 2. It’s almost morning.

The town to the west turned out to be either a small village or a secluded branch of a bigger town. Two office towers, three houses (one of them with a garage), a pawn shop and a sporting goods shop. I left the pawn shop alone, obviously.

The sporting shop contained loads of books, several backpacks, some headwear and other assorted stuff. The houses had the usual - some food, loads of rubber gloves for some reason (3 pairs between all the houses), and also some duct tape and batteries. Also some medicines, matchbooks and lighter.

No mouthwear so far, so it’s frostnipped. And no knife.

There’s an armored car on the street. The security system is off and the plating and the guns look fine. Looks like I’ll know what to do if I get a wrench.

For now, it’s looking fairly well. When I run out of looted food/drink, there’s always the wood stove in the cabin.

EDIT: Branch of a bigger town, it turns out - I was out by the office tower when it dawned. I killed several Zs with rocks and high-tailed it out of there when the dawn revealed several more. As I already have binoculars, the dawn revealed quite a part of the town.

Ye olde makeshift knife and a patchwork scarf would be your best friends right about now. ;w;

I made a schizophrenic unwilling mutant earlier.
Whooo boy, I thought i’d be a flavor negative trait - turns out I was right. Made the game VERY interesting.

this game really hates me right now, looted a farm and just as i was about to start a fire to cook some meat i notice a large horde had spawned outside, currently very hungry and very thirsty and no idea how to solve that with the horde nearby and no light to craft with

had to use the materials i had gathered for a fire drill to make some clothing so I don’t freeze to death over night, also this is day one

Day 3 of an Ambush start. Managed to convince the starter NPC to come with me. He had a simple flame thrower and proceeded to burn ALL the stuff. Hilarity ensued.
Ran away from all the FUN! that the NPC was having and made my way to a town. Found a refugee center and done a little trading. Saved my game and next time I loaded it all the NPC’s were gone which was a little weird but whatev’s.
Clearing the town of all the undead filth and haven’t even saved scummed once and I’m not going to. It really ruins the game for me. #promisespromises

Found this beauty of a quote.

One character I played was the proud inventor and owner of the world's first atomic vibrator, the ultimate weapon against hysteria.

I forgot that you can UPS/Atomic power pretty much anything - Or was that in earlier experimentals?

encounters a corrosive zombie for the first time…

deletes world, creates new world with acid zombies disabled

Huehuehue. One of these days I should see if I can code a “solar power” battery mod. But that would require seeing if the artifact properties can be dumped into items via tool mods.

Be lucky acid can’t destroy items now. ;w;

i hated the spitter zombies because of the item destrying properties but they were managable, now with that removed they were ok to go against, corrosives… now thats just plain unfair, especially being forced to fight one in the first day or 2

Just look:

Yeah, poor little me alter ego managed to kill a f*cking MOOSE on day 2! Clubbed it with a cudgel and threw rocks at it, was all.

Stats:

EDIT: Oh crikey, my alter ego is a male somehow (pressed @ one time too many, probably, during creation)! How can I fix it via save-editing or something?

If only we had a sex-change debug option. o3o

Hope that a zombie or a hulk or a moose strike a gelding blow on yer geldables?

Wait, wrong game.

Last thing we need is for moose to be able to neuter player characters. D:

I kind of miss that. At a certain point there’s really too much items, and it’s less butchering and smashing when half the horde has been acid’d.

On a solar battery mod, I suppose it’ll make sense if the item will only recharge if you’re wielding it. Since otherwise whatever solar modded item will be stuffed in backpack space.

Huehuehue. And yeah, don’t think we can get it to recharge only when wielded or worn, but…

Man. Dragging the display racks to the substation took quite a while.

Still, studied up on mechanics, scrounged up the parts for a cargo carrier wheelbarrow (thank you cargo carrier truck wreck) and everything is set up quite nicely for items to be stored. I am ready to organize!

In general, I do want to have a certain flavor to my large power substation base. One area can be a holding bay for Zlaves. A sort of storage area for food. I’m thinking large tents. Shame you can’t construct pots, as image-wise they’d look more fitting than open crates.

started inside the lab for once, though what do you do when the only up stairs is right next to a turret?

Restart. That’s what I do if I see a start which is obviously fucked up.
