What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

I’m currently fortifying the western wing of the mansion I cleared of zeds.
(And then had to re-clear, since they reanimated for some reason. I hadn’t found anything to butcher them with yet.)

You can also smash them. Quicker than butchering (at least it SEEMS like it), but it drains stamina rapidly and can damage whatever you’re wielding.

You can try finding a sharp rock. Even with the negative butchering quality, it can be used as a butchering tool.

One of these days I really should see about a PR that makes claws have a low or negative butchering quality. >w>

What does negative butchering even mean? Just that much worse? What sort of scale is it, just a raw [(survival whatever)+Butchering]% or something else?

an Npc just whilist unarmed causually murdered a chicken walker, he says hes just watchin the world burn.

The mansion I’ve begun to fortify is completely clear of zeds.
It’s main advantage, its isolation (the nearest “town” is only a few map tiles away, but it only contains four buildings, so it doesn’t quite count), is also its main drawback.
After undergoing a day’s travel to the south on foot, I located a town of decent size, and spent the next 24 hours looting everything of use. I now have tons of fur clothing (probably going to cut up most of it to pad existing clothing. (It’s day four, and with 91-day seasons, winter’s a long way away.)
I also have a couple firearms, some basic tools, loads of food, and more, but my best find was a pistol crossbow and twenty steel bolts that I came across in a sporting goods store.
Silent kills are awesome.
Anyways, as I type this, I’ve moved my character into the car I found and fueled up, and I’m about to make the journey back.

Not sure how the math works out, but a negative butchering quality will mean way lower odds of getting anything useful.

You are end game but You do not know how to forge katana? I created 3 from scratch and broken cars give alot of steel.[/quote]

I suppose i’m late game, but I just reached there. Just made survivor’s armor, and just got a wakizashi (Which converting to diamond almost killed me since the lab was so damn cold.) and Just made a fusion blaster rifle. I don’t want to make a katana just yet, since i’ve heard wakizashi’s are good for quick and non-splattering attacks which give out a decent attack output.

Any butchering value will destroy the corpse, but WHAT you get when you butcher is determined by survival skill, dexterity, and butchering quality. (Whether or not you get any bionics from things that can give bionics is the most obvious and generally important thing people notice here, though it doesn’t affect which ones you get, nor does it affect whether you get burned out ones or not.)

Also, I’ve been told that butchering quality affects how long it takes to butcher, as well, but I’ve never really watched close enough to check that.

Since I was getting bored of the ‘‘Deathmobile’’ playstyle, I decided that my current survivor would have a permanent base and basically forbid myself from making a rolling fortress of doom. I fortified and pimped out a Public Works with all the possible amenities. Complete solar rig with all the crafting stations, solar floodlights around the base, storage areas and a future farming area. Plus it’s really close to the necropolis when I feel like doing that.

I’m playing on 92 day seasons and autumn started. I’m preparing for the first winter but I’m not really scared. I’m sitting on 15k units of powdered eggs, 800 units of dehydrated meat, multiple water tank rigs filled to the brim and 2 full barrels of single malt whiskey. Bring it on winter.

I’m limiting my vehicles to my raidbike. 4 tiles long, 1 wide. 2 cargo spaces and diesel + gasoline engines. I’m exploring farther and farther out from my base, sometime gone for a week but I always come back to my comfortable abode. Just recently went to a lab with a CVD machine to make a diamond broadsword. I decided to forbid myself from using a diamond katana and niten ichi-ryu because it’s crazy overpowered.

Shelved the naturalist since I can’t make progress due to the master Z in the mansion and the lack of mechanics.

Started a new game with my alter ego (Poor Hearing, Lightweight, Near Sighted, Disease Resistant, Fast Learner, Fast Reader, Good Memory, Gourmand, Night Vision, Self Aware; Student; 7/7/12/7). There’s a cabin a short walk down from the shelter. It’d be perfect if not for the fact one wall in the bedroom’s ruined. The shelter had an emergency jacket in the locker and some foodstuffs in the basement.

Soooo… 20 days in, was setting up a base with my teammate npc in an evac shelter (that i found), when one night this female shows up with an M4 and tells me to get out before i get shot.

I ran to my RV, got some guns. Next thing I know - the NPC is right next to me and I already have 3 bulletholes in me. And OFC I missclick.

RNGs A BITCH. And this actually felt like DayZ.

That’s when the debug menu comes in handy. I hate it when random NPC’s spawn in my LMOE shelter and take my shit.

I’m currently bunkered down in a LMOE shelter but the lack of light is annoying underground. Still, can’t argue with the infinite amount of water so I’ll deal with it.

I also decided to build a wooden building to house my forge, still, etc. which also has a water well outside. I mostly use it for crafting weapons and metal objects. And since I can’t drag cart’s downstairs I can instead forge in the building without having to tediously carry metal up and down stairs.

Damn that’s cool. Seems like a really lucky mapgen, I only usually get tiles and tiles of forests and maybe a few interesting nick-nacks dotted around. Also, for the diamond wakizashi that I currently owned almost killed me to make since it was on the bottom of an ice lab.

How many days have you lived?

If you’re lucky, you might find an atomic lamp and all your problems will be gone.

I’ve locked down the mansion, and with the atomic lamp I found, I’ve started reading as many books as I can.
My car, the “Iron Bitch II,” is parked out front.
What happened to the Iron Bitch I, you may ask?
Well, apparently, tapping the edge of a guardrail at 19mph can destroy your engine.
Fortunately there was another car on the bridge, so I moved all my equipment into that and fueled it up.

So, I got a lot of loot to bring back up to my currently-unnamed security van, so I jacked a working solar car. Gonna see if I can get around the woods I had to walk through by skirting the edge of the river.

As far as i know butchering quality only effects butchering speed.

my rough skin mutation turned into phelloderm and it turned into bark, later i got rough skin again and turned into scales so i have two skin muttations (+2 bash defense +2 cut defense)
